First, let me preface the situation. We wanted to renovate everything inside our house except the bathtubs in our master and guest bathrooms. Update our cabinets, vanity bathrooms, new flooring, paint the entire inside house, repair windowsills, and a few other things. We also wanted to take down a wall section between our kitchen and living room to get a clear line of sight then change our hall closet into a pantry.  Those were our major structural changes when looking into general contractors.

Going into this world of renovation business, I didn’t know what to expect or how it was supposed to play out.  I’ve watched a lot of home remodeling to build up some expectations, I know TV shows do much more than in reality so I kept my expectations in check somewhat.  I got my first quote from another contractor to establish a baseline. Then I saw Your Dream Remodeling on Google Maps and gave them a try. They came, listened, measured, gave us a price quote, answered questions or concerns, and more.

Between those 2 contractors were night and day in terms of their approach. Here’s where Dream Remodeling separated itself from other contractors. Their quote is detailed in nearly everything. Leaving nothing out so you know what to expect going in. Another contractor I’ve encountered left out a lot of details and was pretty vague on what to expect. So of course, I chose Dream Remodeling for that specific reason.

With that said, I work from home and my family stayed home throughout the entire construction. They first worked in the kitchen and living room, worked their way to bathrooms then our bedrooms last.  It was fascinating to watch and see how things progressed over time. Be warned, it was dusty, noisy, and crowded. But we managed and got through the hurdles.  We were told it would take about 4 to 6 weeks, but they completed everything a little under 4 weeks which was fantastic and exciting to see it come to fruition.

Things to note when going through renovation. If it’s not on the list of agreements, then it won't happen. If you want something changed or additions, it’s a change order. In my case, I wasn’t sure if they would replace the vent cover, outlet, and light switch/plug plates.  Anything they took down or uninstalled is when I bought newer items to have them replaced without any additional charge. Furniture, appliances, and decorations are on your own. Although, I’m sure they’re more than capable of doing it for you if you want it included.

Once we went through the final walkthrough, we gave them additional items that we noticed and they came back and fixed them. Again, I'm tremendously happy with how it turned out and highly recommend them for any of your projects inside or outside the house.“

Floor Inspirations is a quality flooring company with higher end brand products and installers. They employe their own installers and do not use contractors. Before arriving at Floor Inspirations, I received 3 bids from others stores on different brand products. These previous stores all used contract installers and did not sell the Proximity Mills brand; which after extensive research and consultations, I decided was the highest rated stone composite tongue and groove plank floor for my particular needs. Floor Inspirations did sell this brand and that is what initially brought me to them. Xaquira had extensive knowledge and was very helpful with getting answers for all my product questions and was a true pleasure to work with. Doug is the owner and does the bids as well. He has extensive knowledge and integrity from every perspective. Pablo is their installer for this style floor and if I had a flooring company I would want to hire him without question. The install can require floor leveling with special concrete and this is where you need a real pro and Pablo is that for sure. My floor required extensive leveling due to the old house having multiple add on sections that were not initially leveled properly. I give Floor Inspirations a A+ from all aspects.“

“We retained HGI Remodeling to transform or Kitchen and breakfast area to the dream kitchen we envisioned.

At our very first meeting, Alex and Nanno explained their process, listened to our ideas, and laid out a proposed plan that gave us confidence that we selected the right team for the project.

To share a little about the difficulty of this remodel, here were just some of the challenges: 1- we wanted over sixty feet of two hundred year old 12 x 14 hand hewn barn beams installed 2- Specialty design and install of the same beams over our stove top, and beam lighting features 3-creating stained and painted cabinets, requiring some new cabinets and rebuilding others, to include glass cabinet panels with the exact stain back panel to match the stain in the kitchen and a recently built entertainment center in our family room, which is adjacent to the breakfast area. 4- having an engineer help design changes to the main support structures to allow for a more open kitchen and breakfast area. 5- hand made light features and fixtures, unique high end switches and face plates.

I could go on with many more examples of the specialized and unique features of our new kitchen, but the most important thing, is that we love the way the kitchen turned out.

The contractors Nanno used were excellent. From the demolition to the finish work, the quality of the work is outstanding. The natural stone floors, quartz countertops and cabinets were installed or built by some of the best trades people I’ve seen.

Living through a major remodel is very disruptive and stressful at times. But, Nanno was very helpful in minimizing the stress by always having a positive attitude and a welcoming smile. He made sure we knew when contractors would be on site and ensured the many different skilled trades were scheduled so there were no delays.

We can’t say enough about how appreciative we are to Nanno. Throughout the project he and I would brainstorm how to create certain features, and what ideas would work best. Nanno has a unique background in design, and that experience combined with his creativity resulted in our perfect kitchen.
