I've had an appointment for about 3 wks now . I got a call yesterday telling me my appointment was gonna be cancelled cause my PCP was not gonna be there, while I was stillon the phone she says wait , she is gonna be here so just come in. So I go in today had to take some time off work which is only part time, waited 40 min then when I was let in a room the nurse ask what can I help you with? I'm like I'm here for my appointment. So she go on to tell me the DOC is here but we have lots of walk in , so what what are you trying to say? I can't be seen? She said we need to reschedule you. I'm like what?? My father is a patient at this UMC clinic. He had an appointment which had been scheduled for a few weeks and always makes it a point to be punctual. The day of his appointment we were 10 minutes early, checked in with the receptionist, and the man who handles insurance, and payments. During our long wait in the waiting lobby we had inquired about the length of time waiting to be seen, but weren't given any explanation as to what the delay was. The doctor informed later, while my father was being seen that he was running behind, and was playing catch up for the days appointments. The lobby being rearranged and set up for a Chamber of Commerce event taking place later on seemed to be of more importance than patient care. Professional, business etiquette is lacking at this facility. Getting phone calls returned in a timely manner, and keeping the patient informed in regards to their care is not a top priority here either. To expect this kind of service at an establishment other than a 'professional medical' office is standard in DR. To get this kind of service at a healthcare facility is truly disappointing.
