Robin Ashman-Terrell is our puppy (and people) training angel! When we brought home our 4 month old rescue pup, we knew we wanted to set her up for a successful and happy life by giving her private and group training sessions. We talked to a few other trainers, but chose to go with Robin because of her approach of positive reinforcement only, and of course her obvious experience with dog training. Here’s why we LOVE Robin: Her approach - After an initial phone call with Robin to learn about her business and approach to training, we had 2 personal sessions with Robin at her house and also participated in her beginner’s manners class. She is a believer in positive reinforcement only, and tailored her training approach to the personality of our pup. We really felt like she was training our pooch, but also us humans as well, because she helped us understand what our dog was feeling and thinking, and why she was acting a certain way. This helped calm us down as first time dog owners, and also helped us reframe the way we trained her in a way that would be best for our puppy. Her communication - Robin clearly has a ton of business savvy. She has a great system set up for payments and receipts, and always sends excellent instructions before / after class so we come with everything we need for the session. She is also very responsive to questions, and has helped us in stressful situations outside of class. Her results - Our dog is very soft and shy, and Robin gave us a combination of techniques that would help her gain confidence and become the happiest version of herself. We still apply her lessons daily. The best results are that our dog is responding to our training, and that we as humans know how to adjust in different scenarios. Her community - Robin has a great group of clients, and one benefit of working with her is being able to meet other like minded humans with pooches of their own. She hosted an amazing Halloween party for the pups, which was so fun for our dog and for us! To sum it all up, Robin has a deep knowledge and love of dogs. Our dog, who can be shy around humans, absolutely loves her, and so do we!
I worked with Robin from Good Dog Fetch to help with my newly adopted 5 month old pointer puppy. Her training sessions were above and beyond and Andy (my puppy) absolutely loves her! I have seen him grow to understand commands rather than just perform by repartition. Robin helped teach basic commands such as sit to more complex tricks and behavioral training. She has given very thoughtful and helpful advice on all topics! I would highly recommend her to anyone for puppy/dog training!!
I signed my dog and I up for Robin’s Beginner Manners Class. It was 5 classes, once a week. I’ve never signed up for any training before but knew it would be beneficial. I feel the price was comparable to other trainers that I looked at. Robin’s class is geared towards all levels of training. You definitely learn a lot about your dog and other dogs. I feel more confident with training and am looking forward to taking her next level of classes.
