“It's that time of year again....our A/C started to lose it's ability to cool down last Wed. morning. I noticed it wasn't as cold and was constantly running but the thermostat started registering as 75º vs. 69º and I noticed the house was getting warmer. I decided to ask for referrals from my homeowner's association as well as friends. We had hired a couple of companies before but one was no longer in business and the last company had 2 young techs come out who didn't seem very knowledgeable. Plus, they were only rated 2 stars when we looked them up. I think one was training the other. I did my due diligence, read reviews, comments and checked the BBB. At first I thought of hiring a larger company but even those were franchise-owned with not very good reviews even if they had locations closer to home. I decided to give Quality Star Services a chance as my neighbor highly recommended them. She said "...wonderful family. Best pricing we've encountered and excellent service." I looked up their website which was put together well and organized. What stood out to me was these: * Has A+ BBB Rating * Veteran-owned * Yelp reviews say they don't try to upsell nor nickel & dime you. "Honest" * Owner says his dad was in the business for 30 yrs so he got into business too. Website says "integrity first", "service before self" and "excellence"(perform our duties at the highest level of excellence and professionalism.) * In business 26 yrs We gave them a call after hours on Wed but it went to voicemail so we left a message. We received a call back in the morning around 9am and a tech was dispatched between 1-3pm. Aaron came at 2:41pm. He spoke to my husband and was shown our AC unit both inside and outside. We were hoping it wouldn't be a major deal as we had just replaced ours in 2017. Thankfully it was just a small fix where a piece of insulation fell and was blocking the air from cooling. Aaron fixed it, gave us a tip to buy an air filter that we could buy at Home Depot. He said we could just replace it every year. He also gave us a tip to leave the vent returns open in all the rooms so the AC isn't working so hard. I thought I was conserving energy too not having to cool a room you aren't using?! I appreciated his tips as no other company gave us suggestions. We paid only $169 and were happy with his professionalism, knowledge, honesty and friendly demeanor.
