“Something to look forward to in your late 40s is going to get a colonoscopy. That is if you have an insurance that will cover it which I feel lucky and am grateful that I do. It is an important preventative measure if you are able to do it and once it's done, you don't have to get another one until another 10 years pass. This location opens at 6 am, which is good for those with very early appointments. This is a surgical center, not a hospital, that handles stomach procedures exclusively as the name implies. There are a few parking spots in the front and more in the back. Check in was smooth and all the staff were polite. Be prepared to give your medical history, I'd prepare a note in your phone with any major conditions or procedures you've had so you can remember everything. The prep for the procedure was hard but only because I lost a lot of sleep due to the timing involved with the pre-procedure steps. When you are in the hospital bed waiting for your turn, you'll be surrounded by other patients waiting their turn as well but we were all separated by curtains. Unfortunately those curtains are not sound proof so expect to hear everyone's personal medical history and likewise they'll hear yours as well. If you rather the nurses talk a bit softer about your medical history be sure to let them know up front. The procedure itself was done in a blink of an eye or so it seemed. You'll still feel a bit woozy when you walk out but that is normal and why they require you have someone with you that can drive you home. I saw Dr. Mehta and he was amazing throughout the whole process. Your doctor should talk to you before the procedure and then will give you the results shortly after you wake up before you leave. I was anxious about having this procedure but now that it is done I can say with confidence I had a positive experience here. Be not afraid.“
