I love this saloon as Stevie Hernandez is an amazing hair stylist and I get compliments on how he cuts and styles my difficult, baby fine hair. The vibe and setting is of an elite, high end spa and I sleays leave relaxed and with a big smile on my face. Best stylist and salon ever

Callie did a wonderful job on my hair! I’m so impressed with her work and love my new blonde highlights. The salon is so calming and clean. Loved my entire experience at Salon 1601. Thank you Callie!!!

While enjoying a lovely lunch, I asked our waitress about her hairstylist because it was just the sort of look I was going for. Turns out, her 'do was courtesy of @steviehairnandez, who instagram pics got me hooked. I easily booked an appointment online via styleseat. I entered in my card to hold my appointment, thus no cash had to be exchanged day of. The reminder text directed me to this bright cheery salon space on 38th, in that sometimes-confusing cluster of buildings. I always wander into the wrong space, but am always pleasantly surprised by a new find. The salon is following all safety precautions; you are directed to text your stylist upon arrival. Alas, it was a beautiful day and they had the door open, so when I approached to read that sign, a masked employee helped me out. I waited outside in teeny courtyard before my appointment. And now, on to the wonder that is Stevie. Best haircut I've ever had. He spent several minutes in silence just touching/looking at my hair.We then talked about what I wanted and what was most realistic (given my hair type, my desired routine, etc.). Then he got to work. He was very pleasant and funny, but we didn't blab the whole time; he was very focused, and I very relaxed to be surrounded by plants and feeling the outdoor air with some jams softly in the background. Got a choppy bob that I could wear sleek or smooth - both easy to achieve and he showed me how (see insta for pics of his favorite bobs, mine is similar). Just love!!!
