Whatever cost you think you'll spend getting a Carrier A/C unit, go ahead and add a $900 hidden fee to that.
That's how much replacing an entire evaporator coil costs, when theirs fails just 2 years after installation, causing flooding in your attic and water damage to your ceiling.
That $900 will not cover the cost to repair the water damage, of course. No, you're on your own for that because Carrier doesn't like to guarantee the craftsmanship of their products.
Go with Carrier at your own risk.
I called 5 times and got redirect. Then found out they close early. So if you live in Texas you are short an hour. Also if you own Carrier A/C there not compatible with the Nest or any other thermostat brand. You can't even use a cheap one. You have to buy carrier brand thermostat which cost $650 bucks. So my sisters thermostat messed up due to multiple renters not taking care of it. Now she has to cough up $650. Why wasn't she warned this pior to installing a Carrier A/C unit??? A heads up would have been nice like hey if you ever need to or want to upgrade its gonna cost you. So what I'm saying you CAN ONLY USE CARRIER BRAND THERMOSTAT.
I bought a house from Toll Brothers which specifies (must be a cheap price because the product is really bad) Carrier Heating & air conditioning units. I thought new heating and air conditioning units were to last about 20 years. Within 6 years of purchase, the 4 ton unit condenser and coils had to be replaced. Then at 9 years, my 3 ton unit had to have the same parts replaced on it. Then at 7 years after replacing the condenser & coils on the 4 ton unit, I had to replace these coils again. Now at year 14, I am having to replace the coils on my 2 ton unit. The total cost of maintaining my Carrier units is nearing $20,000. Carrier products are so bad that I heard...read full review
