Today was our first visit for our 7 1/2 year-old 193 pound, highly anxious Great Dane. Every year, the vet visit for vaccinations is something that I dread. Today that changed. Dr. Barrett and the entire staff at Appalachian were helpful, kind and knowledgeable They all made us feel that our dogs anxiety is manageable and suggested a concrete plan as well as emotional reassurance for all of us! We now have confidence that we have found a veterinarian practice that we can trust and that they will be here to take care of our big baby as he ages.

First off, if this review says I recommend this place, that's a lie... I wanted to have a good review for this place, I really did. I had a cat I rescued from a local store that was pregnant and they helped me when I was bringing in a whole litter of kittens who has eye infections and they did help. But on 2 occasions now, you have taken over $1200 from my mother for 2 cats. Who died within 3 days of you sending them home to her. You provided no answers, no answers for my mom to live with. A constant guilt she will live with for the rest of her life that she will never get over. And you couldn't even give her an answer. $2400. No legitimate test results. Nothing but 2 dead cats and no answers. How can you feel OK with yourselves for taking $2400 from someone who can't afford it, and providing them with nothing? Unacceptable. Absolutely unacceptable. And I'm only on the issue of you taking advantage of my mother. I haven't even gotten into my own issues. THEY WANTED ME TO AMPUTATE MY DOG'S LEG FOR NO REASON. I came in with my dog who I also rescued, who had an issue with her leg. They told me it needed to be amputated and quoted me $1600 to have her leg cut off and guess what? Thank goodness I didn't have the money in that moment because I would've done what they advised. Here we are over a year later with a ridiculously happy dog with 4 legs who is as healthy as can be. How much are you going to take from people in this area who can't afford it just because they want their fur babies to live? You are taking advantage of the people who will do anything they can to help an animal have the best quality of life, draining them of money, and providing no answers as to why? $1200 and nothing but a marker in our back yard to remember the beautiful life you didn't save. Money is the root of all evil.

I have taken my animals here for years. We had to put our first family dog down recently Dr Lamaster and the whole team were so good to us and sweet to our Abby as they helped her cross the rainbow bridge. We will never forget their kindness
