AHS American Home Shield aka FrontdoorName is confusing, isn’t it? But that’s not the only thing…I have been with the Shield for more than 2 years, used the service multiple times and I have some serious comments/information for those who want to know.For all your in-home repairs, the company pulls from their pool of contractors and assigns them to you. You have no choice in the matter. Their selection is based on those firms who have plenty of availability. Who has plenty open slots? Those companies with a low number of appointments. I used AHS for 12 -15 years in my home, in my vacation home...they have always been fair, taken care of my home and sent techs that I am now friends with after all these years. Just signed up again after renting after my *****'s passing and a homeowner again!!

At first, I believed that AHS was a great choice for in home repairs. That is until they "fixed" my dryer. My eyes were opened in disbelief. Ok, so they needed to order a specific part that was not readily available. It happens. But, when I started to get notifications from Ebay that I was getting a delivery, I was dumbfounded. I didn't order anything from them, I thought. Turns out that AHS can source parts from whomever and wherever they feel that they can get the best price from. Including as I found Ebay! But not to worry because AHS will warranty the part for 30 days! But, after that time period expires, well, you'll be expected to place a new repair order and pay...read full review
