411 Phillips St, Dyersburg“Jeff Patterson and his crew did an excellent job replacing our roof. They were efficient and knowledgeable about their work. They were also very courteous and when they were finished they cleaned everything up very nicely. We are very pleased with our new roof and plan on having Excel Exteriors doing some more work for us in the future. Thanks Excel!“
“I have tried to find a qualified roofer to repair a leak for a very long time now. I watched neighbors having work done on their roofs and would contact the people who I felt was doing quality work. I talked to friends. I was not looking for anything for free, but I wanted quality work for a fair price. It was so discouraging to have companies and people decline interest for whatever reason. My job was not worth their time; it was not going to be a full roof replacement. (My house is only 6 years old.) People would set up appointment times to come and look at the job and give me an estimate, but would never show up. I would call companies I found on Google who had top ratings and reviews, only to be told they were not interested in working on a roof with asphalt shingles. I finally ran across a Goggle search for SUMMIT ROOFING. I read the reviews, looked at the high ratings, and called them. I was initially disappointed that I reached an answering machine and had reached yet another company where I had to leave a voicemail. HOWEVER…. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received a call back in less than 10 minutes. The lady I spoke with was very polite, respectful, and she truly LISTENED. Most importantly, she took my name and number, promising she would arrange to have someone contact me as soon as she could make contact with one of her workers. I received that follow-up phone call within an hour or so.
I spoke with a gentleman named David. He was respectful, professional, courteous, friendly, and … KNOWLEDGEABLE. We arranged for him to come to my home that afternoon and see what was needed. I was very impressed…. HE CARED. He had a manner about him that immediately put me at ease. After our preliminary conversation, he went up on the roof and did a close inspection of the entire roof. I had wet spots in my living room ceiling when we had torrential rains, but the rest of the house seemed to be without problems. He found a couple spots where roofing staples were starting to raise up and pose potential future issues elsewhere, but he discovered a screw hole or two over the living room left by the original builders. He used a high quality sealer to fix those holes, did some hammering in other areas to reset those staples, sealed some loose tabs back down here and there over the entire roof, and then double checked the roof again for his own assurance and satisfaction. I am 71 and dealing with health issues, so he was well aware that I could not get on the roof myself to inspect his work or do any little future “fix-it’s”.
He EARNED my trust AND respect. I was very comfortable in a job well done when he left. I spoke to him about more extensive work in the near future. Evidently, the materials used to build this house originally are already showing extensive wear, not to mention poor construction work. After all, what qualified contractor leaves nail and screw holes in a new roof, not to mention a double handful of bent nails, unused screws, and unused nailgun magazines scattered across the roof. Yes, this trash was left on the roof in 2018 when this manufactured home was initially set up. It has remained up there through 6 years of rain, snow, and wind, until David from Summit gathered it all up and properly disposed of it before he pronounced his work COMPLETE.
He spent over 2 hours here, all totaled, and left me with a very comfortable feeling. AND YET, he called me 2 days later, after a very heavy rain hit the previous night. He wanted to follow up with me to make sure I was still dry and satisfied with his work. I assured him I was VERY SATISFIED. And before you ask, here is the “bottom line”. I was more than willing to pay for the quality work and professionalism I had received. Instead, David insisted that all he had invested in the job was a “bit of his time”; he refused to charge me or accept any payment. All he wanted was a bit of my time here online to give him a fair assessment of his work. I hope David understands how blessed I feel. WELL DONE, my new friend. Joseph.“
