I needed a haircut desperately on vacation while down in Myrtle Beach and found Ocean Drive Barbershop. I walked-in on August 16th, 2019 and was seated quickly. There, I met Kevin. He was incredibly pleasant, professional, and most importantly gave a good cut. Ocean drive barber shop is a small shop and can be judged quickly on their optics as an old, run downed shop. Yet, after spending just 5 minutes in Ocean drive barber shop I learned they are rich in personality, create a positive atmosphere, give off uplifting vibes within the shop and give an old-fashioned, custom tailored experience and cut. If ocean drive barbershop wasn't 15 hours away I would for sure make them my usual barbershop and they have proven they are great for both usuals and newcomers.
While visiting North Myrtle Beach for the SOS Dance week, my first day I decided I needed a hair cut... I was thrilled this place was right on Main Street...No Fuss No Muss!!! You would'a thought y'all stepped back in time to Mayberry (no insult intended) I was in and out with a great cut. The Barber certainly knew what he was doing. I didn't have to ask for the brows or the wild ear hairs to be looked after...He got it all. While getting cut the conversation was funny, just sat a while an listened while he was snippin away... the tinker bell at the top of the door went off an a cute lil guy (3 or 4) proudly making his entrance saying "hey y'all" leading the way for his Dad and not needing any help to find his way around an climb up into the chair. By name he was politely greeted by the two barbers. I was impressed, wished I had my camera... Anyway, Dad went to a small shelf where there was a container of lollipops and pulled one out for his son. That might not seem like much but I was impressed firstly by the impact said lollipop would have on the lil guy's memories of his Dad taking him for a haircut. Makes for a profound bond within their relationship. Secondly, the lollipops were there to begin with... it's the little things and the smallest of details which make for great customer service. Thirdly, everyone was smiling and laughing... I can't remember all that was said but this is the funniest thing that stuck with me... Because the streets were flooded with folks for the #SOS dance week one of the Barber's said: "I can smell when SOS is in town, Perfume all night and Bengay all day!" :)~ God bless all y'all...
