This is the best karate dojo in Lancaster and surrounding counties. It is not just a dojo that mills out belts just to get you through quickly You will learn the true art of karate. You will also feel like family as soon as s you walk in the door. My whole family trains there including my children. We have had nothing but good experiences and highly recommend for children as well as adults.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and the wonderful people who serve the children of our community each and everyday. We enrolled our son here, we're so impressed that we enrolled our 12 year old daughter as well. Hanshi is an experienced instructor who knew exactly what each of my children need in martial arts instruction plus we know they're learning life skills, leadership training, and are growing with a strong community. Ms Felicia, is a warm, caring office manager that knows all of the children and each of the children love her (including my kids!). My daughter is very introverted and struggles with making friends, we've tried other programs only for my shy daughter to watch all of the others kids interacting but her left feeling isolated and on the sidelines. This is not the case with Universal Karate! My daughter was welcomed by the other kids and she says she made several friends. Her father and I were shocked and we will continue to enroll her in their programs. I read the other comment and I don't understand why it says the atmosphere is chaotic, it's not. It's organized and structured, if it wasn't neither of my kids would flourish in the environment. Did I mention they teach the students meditation?! I have a 6 year old son coming home saying he needs to work on not talking so much so he can calm his mind and focus. I have to say, both of my kids now spend their weekends, in the backyard OUTSIDE practicing their katas and forms, "zazen" (meditation) and helping (and arguing, they are siblings) to improve their own and each other's forms, blocks, kicks, etc. I would recommend their programs to anyone because my family has benefited emensely.

I can't say enough how awesome Hanshi James White and his wife Felicia are! My son has been attending the after school program at Universal Karate Studios for the past 4 years and he loves it! It is clear they care for the kids who come there! In addition, my son has learned a lot about karate and discipline from attending! I would highly recommend them to anyone.
