Horry Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a not-for-profit, member-owned corporation dedicated to providing fair and equitable energy-related services. With headquarters in Conway, SC and an additional office in Socastee, SC, the cooperative is known for its responsive power restoration and excellent customer service. While some members have experienced minor inconveniences, the majority are satisfied with Horry Electric's reliable service and small-town approach, even after many years of partnership.
Several times per week in Longs near Little River we experience brief power outages. This has been going on for months now. Once upon a time it was happening in the day time which is bad enough, but now it's happening overnight. Thank God we live in the age of smartphones that have alarm clocks on them and we're not reliant on old fashioned plug in alarm clocks, or else we'd be sleeping in and late for work when the clocks reset due to the outage. Having to reset digital clocks and appliances with timers several times per week is an inconvenience and quite frankly ridiculous for this to keep happening.
The annual registration was a well oiled event again. It is amazing how smoothly they handle the sheer mass of vehicles. Also dealt with customer service and was thrilled with the experience
Horry Electric is stealing our peace of mind for 3 hours every day. The peak hour usage billing is ridiculous and unforgiving. We stress out every day but our bill is doubled for the one day we have guests. My 90 year old neighbor suffers every morning in the cold to avoid the higher rates. Why cant the company average out the peak usage? PLEASE change this ridiculous billing scheme. Apart from this fiasco, HEC is a pretty good electrical company.
