Bought a UPS from them. It had a mechanical failure during warranty period. Tech support colludes with carrier to not provide replacement and then they demand I send in the defective UPS.
APC is yet another company suffering from drastic declines in the quality of its products, which are now backed up by abysmal or even non-existent support. Worse, some of APC's products have become (in my opinion) dangerous and prone to catastrophic failure. I purchased an expensive APC Backup 1500VA UPS with the following model number: BGM1500. And the design of this product is deeply flawed, which is why it appears to have been discontinued. The BGM1500 is supposed to regulate voltage and clean up power before delivering it to your equipment, which doesn't work. Every computer I hooked up to this UPS would start freezing and crashing immediately. If I hooked up audio equipment, I would get static and pops at random intervals. Eventually, the BGM1500 began to smell like ozone and burnt plastic, which is when I disconnected the battery and moved the unit outside where it would be safe in the event the battery exploded or caught fire. The thing is: Many other APC customers are experiencing the same issues that I am. So I did what anyone would do and reached out to APC's support. And after a lot of back and forth, APC's answer was essential: "No, we won't give you a refund because that is our company policy." Ok then. So here we are. I'm an IT professional, and I've been in the tech game for too long, and I've used tons of APC products over the years. Both consumer-level stuff, all the way up to enterprise equipment. APC keeps declining, and I wouldn't recommend anything they produce, no matter what you're buying it for, whether it's your home or a data center. As for the BGM1500, it's not safe to transport it in my car, so I will have to pay a company to pick it up and dispose of the unit and the battery in a way that is both safe and environmentally friendly. What a total hassle for such a simple product---all because APC has trash product designers and awful customer service. Never again. Oh, and check out the pictures to see firsthand what I'm talking about.
My back-UPS failed last Saturday, February 8, 2020. I JUST bought it on January 17, 2020, via Amazon.com. I am STILL waiting for them to ship a replacement unit. I called them first thing Monday morning and they assured me a new unit would be delivered to me within 5 to 7 business days. I have yet to receive an email with tracking info. If I could give them a negative rating I would. Their customer service people act like it's no big deal and keep telling me, "It's on the way". A company that sells equipment that is supposed to help keep your business up and running should have a support department that is open 7 days a week, NOT only Monday through Friday.
