My friend grudgingly agreed to attend her first yoga class with me for my birthday while I was in town and Nanaquaket was a short 10 minute drive from her house, so off we went on a chilly Saturday! Having practiced yoga for longer than I'd like to admit, I don't really attend classes often anymore, so I'm pretty used to setting my own pace, setting my own thermostat, and picking my own postures. This was an important wake-up call that I am fairly out of shape, and also, it's not advisable to have several celebratory cocktails the night before a fast tempo'd class. To child's pose I went 3/4s through the class, catching my breath, and regretting not eating at least a banana before we arrived. My friend, in better shape, but very confused about what she should be doing, had a good time but it was hard not to make eye contact with her and giggle a little at her expression during lions breath and breath of fire. Probably not a class I would take a first timer to, but all in all a positive experience.
My favorite yoga studio. Rachael is the sweetest owner and instructor. You can tell she genuinely cares about you. She makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Classes are all levels so never be afraid to begin. All the other students are friendly as well. It is such a beautiful vibe. You always leave feeling wonderful.
I so love this place. I've been going 2-4 times a week for about 8 mos. I've gotten so strong thanks to Rachael and Kasey. It's a safe haven in a hectic world. I look forward to my 6 am classes. They bring me peace that carries me through the day. Every instructor has a little something different to offer, and I've never had a bad class. There's something for yogis of all abilities.
