I went in to Strands Salon for the first time and met with Zachary after being recommended to him. I got a hair cut and a toner for some prior hair lights and am very pleased with the results. I will definitely go back! It's a nice salon with easy parking and a relaxing vibe. Highly recommended.
Was great until it wasn't. Saw Eddie here after the pandemic and needed to put some style into my hair. The first cut was great. Second cut wasn't as good, but still better then most. THE THIRD time I went however was pretty bad. Eddie got distracted socializing with another customer and I think messed up my cut. Stuff happens and that'd be okay IF he'd been willing to fix it. I am a male with short hair. I called the day after the cut asking for a touchup to fix it. After being put on hold while Eddie was consulted I was told, "He's too busy to see you today" and was given an opportunity to make an appointment for the following week. I was forced to find another place to fix it. My appearance is important to me and I felt self conscious with my cut. I don't feel this level of customer service reflects the type of place I thought Strands was. The staff is friendly at least - I expected at least a degree of sympathy or an some degree of effort to be shown to help. Waiting 5+ days wasn't an option.
I've been a long-time customer of Sherri, one of the two manicurists at Strands. I get one of the most consistently great gel manicures here in Providence and a great conversation as well. She does one of the best pedicures in the state as well - really gets in there and somehow erases ever callus, if you know what I mean. She even wears an apron while attacking that dry skin! Sherri became a friend through our interactions and came over to my house to help me pack (and even with a bottle of wine!!) when I was moving. I must have complained a bit during my manicure but I really was touched by her genuine interest in helping me. She earned a client for a lifetime, or at least as long as I'm in RI! (Debbie is great too - just not typically in on Saturdays. Sherri is in Friday/Saturday)
