I hired GEM to install a new heat pump system in our home to replace our very old oil-fired boiler, as well as our central air conditioning unit. They replaced the air handler in the attic and installed the heat pump and a new thermostat. Some of the problems: (1) Thermostat installed was the wrong type, incapable of controlling both heat and cooling. (2) Installers routed ducting so that access to the air filter was blocked, and could therefore the filter could not be changed. (3) Installers were not instructed to add an additional supply downstairs even though the project manager stated that that is needed. Just got off the phone with Shirley in membership service. She was extremely helpful putting us at ease. Our experience with GEM service has been OK so far. Hopefully the kind of service Shirley provided will extend to the actual service call.

No upfront pricing SCAM! Please Read! I don't like writing negative reviews so sat on this one for a while but months later I'm still angry! In June I called GEM to have a basic descaling maintenance done on my tankless hot water system. My local plumbing and heating guy does it every year for the last 9 years for around $150. He wasn't getting back to me and my system was due so I called a few places including GEM. They offered no pricing over the phone and said the job would be priced at my home and that there is a $199 dispatch fee to show up with a fully stocked van. I explained I didn't need a fully stocked van just need a basic maintenance and... read full review
