So my daughter treated me to a post Mother's Day treat. My first visit to VIP Nails was very nice. The first nail tech was courteous and skilled. Lol, I was only getting a gel mani ($35). Even though the mani was not how I quite recall from previous experiences, the nail tech was nice and professional. It was supposed to be a gel spa manicure. Well, they did not file, shape, buff, and then put on the softening gwl like stuff, then soak your nails. They filed, buffed, and used a soray bottle lol before attacking my cuticles. I usually love this salon, and I look forward to going when I do. However, sometimes the technicians can have a bit of an attitude- especially when I decline the upsells. Today, I was uncomfortable the whole time as my technician refused to smile and seemed annoyed the whole time. It was disappointing, and is making me rethink going back. She could have had a bad day, but they had just opened and every other tech seemed pleasant. Even when I gave her her tip (which was more than she deserved, but I understand the importance of tips in that industry), she barely acknowledged me.

The service, the environment, the quality and the entire staff, from the front door to cashing out, all 5 stars +! I've been going there for at least 10 years and there is no place else I ever go if I can avoid it. I moved an hour away and still drove there. I moved back to RI and have to brave the bridge, but I do it and try to plan accordingly. I was there a couple of days ago and got the pedicure with the longest foot massage possible and a shoulder massage, with Jake, all of it was perfection! I always enjoy the music choices and the vibe. It's a little pricier than some other places, but I do believe that you get what you pay for. I recently read about... read full review
