“Update 9/23: Almost immediately after posting our review, the owner of Charlestown Fence, Steve, reached out to us to apologize for the lack of follow-up and communication about the issues that we’d been trying to get resolved. He explained that his business is incredibly busy and short-staffed; that he is working round the clock to get jobs completed. He promised to be over within 2 days to repair the gates. Upon arrival, Steve looked at the fence and said that the posts had “banana-ed” (curved like a banana). He said our fence was the second he’d seen with the issue but that once the wood is purchased, you own it. The wood company doesn’t replace posts due to problems like this. He and his son adjusted the fence and the gate so that we are now able to open and close the gate without issue. We’re hoping that any warping of the post is done at this point and that we won’t have another issue. Steve said that if we did, he’d come out to repair it again. Original post: We initially met with the owner of the company in spring of 2022 to get an estimate for the entirety of our backyard to be fenced in with two access gates. We understood that there is a lot of wait time/delay for contracting work and our fence was completed in November of that fall. My husband questioned why cement wasn’t being used to secure the posts and was told that it was unnecessary for a stable fence. Within 5 months, the posts on which the gates are built began to fail. We can no longer open and close the one along our driveway without great difficulty; it’s basically unusable at this point. Nails are coming out of the posts and there is noticeable warping of the wood. My husband called for repair in May and was told someone would be out to repair the post within a week or two. No one ever came out. I also called in the last month only to leave a message with no response. At this time, we have no idea whether or not the fence and gate will actually ever be repaired by Charlestown Fence. While we have tried to give the benefit of the doubt, we are completely dismayed by the lack of professionalism and feel like we have been taken for a ride financially.“
