My husband and I live in Vancouver, and were in the process of revising our estate documents. Our attorney in Vancouver prepared documents that would allow our niece in St. Jean to act as a power of attorney and medical proxy for my husband in the event I was unable to make a decision on his behalf. We approached this firm and were advised that they needed to review photocopies of the documents prior to deciding whether they would agree to witness our niece's signature of the documents. They advised that they would let us know within a few days, and seemed to understand we were in town for a limited time. We picked the forms up 12 days later, as they had still not provided a response as to whether they would witness the signature and notarize the documents. My advice is do not waste your time, energy, or money dealing with this notary. I literally still have no idea why they didn't accept the job or what the issue was.
