Terrible Care and Communication. My daughter went to crisis and was ultimately locked in a cell, threatened with restraints and IM sedation. Yes, she had thoughts of suicide, but never attempted anything and truly just wanted her meds evaluated. No one EVER said that, due to her confession about thoughts of suicide would require them to keep her locked up! I became like an enraged animal whose baby was taken away. There was NO communication about exactly what would take place. No care, very poor communication and, only the ability to follow protocol! Fuck your protocols! Individualized care is what we need!!
The care now in Quakertown is beyond horrific. The staff has major attitude and then when I called them out on it they called me hostile. I wouldn't bring my worst enemy here. St Luke's you are normally a stellar place but this place needs to be shut down. As a nurse of 23 years if I talked to pts the way I was talked down to, I'd be fired on the spot. I have been to several other St. Luke's facilities and they have always been wonderful. I wouldn't even bring roadkill here. Unbelievable that these people still have jobs. If you hate your job that much...quit.
My daughter had a recent stay in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital and while the campus is clean, cozy and easily accessible there is LITTLE interaction with patients and visitors; I visited twice a day for six days and each time walked past the "crowded" nurses station full of nurses, doctors & assorted technicians NO ONE and I mean NO ONE ever looked up to greet me, see if I needed help or even to offer a reassuring smile NOTHING! In fact the only person who greeted me during my walk in / out was Linda from Housekeeping, who said good morning and asked how I was doing or commented on my daughter if she had already been in her room that day. Perhaps my interpretation is distorted but I expected a friendly vibe from a "Small Town" Hospital but there is no friendly feel and felt like I was visiting my mother in a large inner city hospital cold and careless!
