My father was transferred to AGH from another AHN facility for surgery. After a couple of hours, they took him off to surgery... but before, not a single doctor or surgeon came in to explain what was going to happen. They just mentioned a few of the risks and had him sign a form. We were given no information except what his room # would be when he was done. A few hours later, we saw on the screens in the waiting room that he was in recovery, but the nurses couldn't tell us anything. Thankfully, the nurse on his floor came out and said that she called a supervisor and we got a call from the recovery floor. My husband had a procedure today and I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr Ramzi Khalil and Rachel the PA. They were both so informative and patient while my husband and I asked questions. Both are just really nice people. On the down side the nurses were kind of OK with my husband but acted as if I was invisible. I kept telling my husband I wore my cloak of invisibility today. As an RN for the largest health system in Pittsburgh I know how I treat my patients and I acknowledge the families and am inclusive with their care. We have multiple inservices each year on a holistic approach to patient care. I introduced my self to the two nurses who cared for my husband... read full review

Er is great but once i got out of there and into a room it was very uncomfortable and disappointing,dirty room and god forbid you push the call button for ice or that you threw up in the bathroom! AGH was always the best hospital around,it saddens me that i have to say but if you are able to have upmc insurance count yourself lucky. On the bright side, the diamond in the ruff was a nurse named Cooper who i feel should be training the staff on how to do their job the kind compassionate way five stars cooper!
