At first Sam (The Owner of Fern Stream Landscapes LLC), seemed to be very educated and confident in his experience of hardscaping / landscaping. Then that soon faded away after our project was started; Sam informed my wife and I that it would only take one day for excavation for our project, it then turned into three working days, which extended the timeframe of our project. Second he over bid on crushed stone / rock (3A) for our job and used the remaining for backfilling while grading out our finished lawn grade. Third he extremely over bid on block that was needed for a retaining wall that was installed, as much as 4 pallets, 4 rows high of block (A decent amount of $$$). Forth on the day of our concrete pad being poured, he was short on his estimate of concrete needed for the job, and 3 quarters of the pad started to set before the last quarter was even being poured. Fifth he ran out of concrete sealer while trying to finish the job and we had to wait 3 additional days for him to return to complete the job. Granted after completion of the job he was pad in full, the full total amount of the quoted price on our contract, even though when he came to collect his payment his addition was wrong and he came up $500 short on his end (This mistake was pointed out to him & he was paid in full). Several days later I inspected his work (a stamped concrete pad 20 X 20 that was poured & a retaining wall that was 5 ft high with levels installed). Upon inspection I did notice a very sizeable area in the pad that is extremely noticeable and was not finished. It appears the concrete was setting up for too long before it was stamped and when the stamp was removed it left a unfinished blemish in the pad. I did in fact reach out to Sam and informed him of my findings, in return he stated "refer to our disclaimer, we can't get everything perfect and refused to rectify this issue". Upon reviewing his disclaimer on the contract, it does not state anything relating to non-finished, or blemished concrete work or the possibility of something not being to the customers' expectations. It more or less states he is not responsible for underground wires or damage to existing property and if extra work is needed the price would increase. But it does state ALL WORK IS GUARANTEED TO MEET OR EXCEED INDUSTRY STANDERS (which this does not)! I do not recommended any services offered by Sam, he is definitely inexperienced and is lacking the skill set as a hardscaper / landscaper / businessman. Typical!! He was paid in full & now he will not acknowledge an issue with the work he provided, only two days after completion of the job / project. A Very Disgruntled Customer
