I've been going to Hometown Wellness for over 6 years, and knew right away that Dr. Amoia was a top-notch chiropractor. I tend to localize tension in my neck, which can exacerbate into some pretty bad neck pain if I let it go long enough, and Dr. Amoia is usually able to fix it with one visit. I especially appreciate this aspect of his care, as I have gone to chiropractors in the past who clearly "milked" the treatment plan, saying I needed to come back multiple times for something Dr. Amoia would fix in one visit. In February 2015 I was going through some significant stress in my life, and began experiencing the same neck pain that would prompt me to call Hometown Wellness, but, unfortunately for me, Dr. Amoia was out of town. I took Advil, etc., for the increasing pain, but it became so severe I had no choice but to go to the ER. To make a long story short, they pumped me up with 2 doses of IV Valium (which is also a muscle relaxant). When that didn't make a dent in the pain, I was given 2 doses of IV demerol, still with no effect, then, as a last resort, IV Dilaudud, followed by an MRI. I basically had enough pain meds in me to kill a horse, which was concerning in and of itself. The ER doctors basically threw their hands up in the air, telling me I had nerve pain, and sent me home with a prescription for Percocet. It was clear they had absolutely NO idea what to do with me. I was able to get in to see Dr. Amoia two days later, and after the first visit had about a 65% reduction in pain, and, with continued care, was 100% pain free within a week. Truly ... if I could give this review 10 stars, I would.
