“I chose Corrective Chiropractic and drove an hour each way to my appointments because I had received an enthusiastic referral from someone who had had a wonderful experience working with Drs. Childs and Durr. At the time, I was experiencing a range of problems after eating meals. I was also having cognitive & emotional issues, insomnia, weight fluctuations and was extremely tired all the time. My GP found nothing, brushed it off as "stress" and prescribed an anti-depressant. The specialists I had seen could find nothing wrong with me. My sleep study came up normal. I knew I was not well and was desperate to find someone who could shed light on my problems. I didn't quite know what to expect in working with a functional nutrition specialist but I was open to something new. Dr. Durr ordered a series of blood tests and determined I had leaky gut syndrome among other things. He put me on a 6-month elimination & reparative diet in addition to several supplements to compensate for nutritional deficiencies. What I learned during this time from my office visits, CC's literature, and website videos was more informative and helpful than I could have imagined. I learned which foods I need to eliminate from my diet. I knew nothing prior to that about leaky gut syndrome, food sensitivities and their consequences as well as the damage of acid blockers and antibiotics, both of which I had been on for many years. After the 6-month program I was down to the weight I was in high school and my symptoms all but disappeared. I was shocked that even my seasonal allergies did not return, nor did my frequent cold sores! I never had to wait more than a few minutes to see the doctor, was never rushed during the sessions, and was always treated with kindness and respect by him and everyone in the office. My emails and questions to the doctor or the office were always answered very promptly. I'm extremely glad I chose Corrective Chiropractic and I since have recommended this practice to others.“

“We visited Sugars Bridge Farm two days before Christmas - do not let cold weather scare you away! Sugars Bridge Farm is magical, no matter the time of year - there is always something interesting going on. The farm is immaculate and completely charming. I have never seen chickens like these, much less held them! The alpacas were so cool - having them nibble from your hand connects you directly with these soft, gentle and shy South American camelids. Sharlene has a well stocked shop for browsing afterward, and it was fun to take a piece of our visit home with us. Although focused on the educational aspect of the alpaca business, the visit was really about connecting to a vision of farm that remains on many people's wish lists. The animals are incredibly well cared for and happy. All of my kids left saying that they wanted to have a farm just like hers someday. I should add that we are super covid-paranoid and I was nervous about visiting. Sharlene made sure that every appropriate precaution was taken at every step and we felt at ease in our masks, socially distanced in the open air. There is also warm running water in the barn for hand washing. The alpaca tour is suitable for any age - grab some friends and/or family and go check it out!“

“My spouse had surgeries to save the foot from being Amputated due gangrene which was not told to them at until seeking a sec opinion went thru hell by being lie to. All over a callus that desire to be shave down for comfort
upon loosing toes in 1987by accidently falling over a tombstone cutting grass a afraid to let go of the lawnmower thinking it would hit my face got a team of Dr's and they spoke on saving the foot as much as possible.had 1-3 unblock procedures done got blood flow to keep from cutting off below the knee.just above/below the wound and the leg and part of the foot. they can walk needfoot therapy from the wound care therapy people but since the surgery team is this bless can't wait to meet them All. “After a lifetime of pain and ten years of mobility issues, I learned about Lipedema at the end of 2022. In January 2023, I saw a Lymphedema Therapist at Christiana Care and Dr. Shapira, who both confirmed a lipedema diagnosis. Dr. Shapira also confirmed veinous insufficiency. I looked at my options for treatment and as I was stage 3, surgery was my best option to regain mobility. Dr. Shapira's staff did a great job helping me to understand my options, informed me on what to expect, and helped me to get my insurance covered for the surgery. Doc also encourages patients to meet each other and ask questions of one another to gain perspective which was nice. It took a few months to get the approvals for surgery. I started the vein treatments with another doctor recommended by Shapira along with conservative Lipedema treatments including Diet, MLD, Pumps, and Wraps. I have now had five successful surgeries with Dr. Shapira, and my mobility is significantly better, and the pain is nearly gone. I feel like I have my life back. I cannot thank Dr. Shapira, Ally, Keisha, Carolyn, Lynn, and Stephanie enough for all of their help and support through this process. They could not be kinder and more caring. Some people are put off by the fact that the surgeries are done in the office under local anesthesia. If a hospital setting and general anesthesia are important to you then this might not be your option. For me, I preferred to be able to know what was going on and to go home same day after the surgery to my own bed to recover. Although it is in office, Doc and his team are hypersensitive to creating a sterile environment during surgery. Most lipedema treatment options require extensive travel due to the limited surgeons in the US treating this at present. I feel blessed that I live locally and received high quality care from Dr. Shapira and team.“
