I decided to locate the grave of my great, great grandfather S.G Nicholson (Sylvester Goodrich Nicholson) and is wife Esther. GPS coordinate 45.03907 -122.72858. I wasn't quite sure where to look, so I tried finding the oldest stones first, since I knew he died in 1861 at the age of 44.I did locate their graves, unfortunately his stone needs to be cleaned, so was difficult to read. (I will try to attend to that another day). The Miller Cemetary is located on OR-213 slightly south of the mile 26 marker. The church is clearly visible from the highway.

This is one of the few structures from the Pioneer era that you can visit. And, what a wonderful structure it is and was! Built for the purpose of holding funerals for Oregon Pioneers. Amazing!

Peaceful, beautiful, perfectly simple. Knowing others is wisdom;Knowing the self is enlightenment.Mastering others requires force;Mastering the self requires strength; He who knows he has enough is rich.Perseverance is a sign of will power. He who stays where he is endures. To die but not to perish is to be eternally present.
