I had the pleasure of working with shapes ostomy department. Michelle was assigned to help problem solve with inverted stoma site. She actively listened to the persons needs I was representing. Listening to what has not been working concerning leakage. Michelle gave choices and her ideas possibility's that may work. When she was finished going over different ideas that may work she activity listened to customers input.. Michelle represented customer value and honoring choice displaying true compassion. Because of Michelle's values and integrity it was a true pleasure working with her. Surgeon at OSHU gives her High regards saying Glad you found such an awesome team to help figure ostomy problems. UPDATE:2/13/19 I was 10min late due to reasons beyond my control and instead of a kind or considerate tone I was greeted by a nurse (Trina) instead of the usual CNA with a lecture that I should not be seen today but they would make a huge exception for me and that I better be earlier from now on. I've been on time before now and to have absolutely no common courtesy or bed side manner as though I deserve a lecture was completely unprofessional. She clearly had an agenda and made up her mind before ever meeting me. I had even called to make sure I could still be seen since I was running late. Despite having sat in the lobby for 20min and beginning to wonder why I hadn't been seen, and despite not violating their tardy regulations I signed to begin with, she insisted it was entirely my fault. When I finally told her "I'll get right on that" she realized how rude she was and stopped talking entirely and passed me off to a CNA. I have been coming here often enough to know that they will call if someone is late, which I never received a call, and that they don't just give up the appointments to a walk in. So her lecture that I was too late and they had no nurse for me was not only false but a complete lie to guilt me further. Unfortunately this is a place of numbers not patients and advocacy is key. They sadly don't expect it and language barriers are a huge problem. ORIGINAL: They do their best with what they have. The nurses work hard and are often over worked but also tend to gossip a little when they dont think patients are within eat shot - sad. The desk staff are incredibly strict and short at best. Sure there are rules for respect and u sweats song but not a single time that I have been here the pay week+ have they had the right orders (that part is not their fault) but they only resolve to sending me home without any fluids for help (that is entirely their fault). Instead of getting the help I need I'm turned away. Then since what they did have for orders didn't agree with me and needed to be dispensed slower I was scolded for coming at a late appointment - like I knew I'd react poorly the first time- and they moved all my future appointments without any considerations for me and my schedule. Since the orders were also going to change they didn't want to give me the current orders even though the new ones would only be adding to the current orders essentially. Once I finally convinced them that i was allowed to have the standing orders in the meantime they tried to run it faster because they started it late resulting in me becoming ill and nauseous to the point of almost throwing up instead of listening to my request to run it at the rate that doesn't make me sick. I have never had to fight for my own care so much. Sure you are your own best advocate but I've never been turned away so much for something I obviously desperately needed.
