Dentist is nice and does a good job. BUT the hygienist Amie AMAZING. Not only is she gentle kind and professional. She is a wonderful ally for the LGBTQIA + community. She respectfully asked for and used my pronouns. Asked respectful questions and made me a NB person feel seen valid and welcome in that business.
Alright, let’s talk specifics: I hate shots, especially shots in my mouth. It’s one of the things I dread most in life. So to say that Dr. Berkner helps me to hate shots a little bit less is a BIG deal. Enough so that I’m writing this review right now. I just finished getting a dental filling about ten minutes ago. Was it as exciting as a Disneyland ride or as relaxing as a day spa? Of course not. It was still a dental filling after all. But it didn’t ruin my day either, and that’s a first for me when it comes to fillings. At no point did I wish I could astral project my consciousness into a different plane of existence just to be anywhere else. It was uneventful. It was boring. It was FINE! (And keep in mind, I am still describing a dental filling, so that’s actually really high praise.) The staff is friendly. The office is always clean and well lit. The equipment is sterile. And of course it is, we’re talking about a dentist office. If those things weren’t true of any dentist, you should run away for dear life. Pretty standard stuff. As Owl City says, “I’ve been to the dentist a thousand times so I know the drill.” For me, what stands out about Ponderosa Dental enough that I’m writing this review is that Dr. Berkner’s novacaine shots don’t suck all the happiness out of my soul like a dementor’s kiss. And that’s pretty awesome.
If anybody is in need of new teeth, I highly recommend you give Ponderosa a try. I give special credit to Dr. Burkner and his team's enthusiastic service for a successful overhaul of my smile - the upper set of teeth was completed today!!! Check out the before and after photos posted.
