Just brought our other Dog so our second trip to this new vet. Love the female vet we saw. Thankful we saw the same vet with both dogs. Basic exam is less expensive here than Salem. Our second senior dog we just took has mammary tumors. When I called to make appointment. The person that answered was very knowledgeable.
I've been using this clinic for years. Both Dr. Archers are skilled vets and communicate well. My first experience was with a dog who was horribly infected with demodex mite, giving her terrible mange and secondary staph infection. I had been to several other vets in the local Salem area with no luck. Dr. Laura took one look at her and said "6 months of Ivermectin will clear that up." 6 months later, she was fine. A couple of years later, same dog blew out her knees at age 3 (chronic ball chaser, even doing back flips for it). Was still seeing a vet in Salem because of the distance; was told it was her back due to unusual presentation. ~ 1-2 years and several specialists later, was told "it's her knees." Scheduled a repair for the first one of two surgeries with Drs. Archer. They cleared their entire surgical schedule (3 hours) for us. I dropped Dog off, and got a phone call a little over an hour later. They had put her under anesthesia, done several range-of-motion tests, and called me to say the surgery wouldn't do her any good. That is Integrity. They could have done the surgery (~$1500) and I wouldn't have been any wiser. That was ~ 10 years ago, and they've been my vets through 4 dogs and a cat since. Very pragmatic -- when one of my old guys was dying, they understood that I wanted to save him if practical, but not do any heroics that would just prolong his suffering and rack up a big bill. He got to die peacefully at home. When another of my guys was dying in an unexpectedly emergency situation, Dr. Bob got us in right away - and then presented all options with the caveat that he probably wouldn't survive any of them, and was both compassionate and clinic in the hardest time of life. Can't say enough good about this team. Thank you, Drs. Archer. We love you.
Ash Creek Animal Clinic is a fantastic vet. On two occasions I've called early morning with health concerns and they've fit us in that day. Furthermore, they are very kind and gentle with our animals such that they love going to the vet! We feel like patients rather than numbers, and they truly care about the welfare of the animals. While the Dr.s Archer (husband and wife team) are thorough in their care, they don't prescribe expensive tests or advocate extra vaccines or medications unless necessary for the health of the animals. An office visit is VERY affordable and they are very open about what you're paying for. Also we were very pleased when our dogs were puppies and needed rounds of shots that subsequent rounds of shots could be administered without 'an office visit.' (We only paid for the shots, not the visit, on subsequent rounds of shots.) Also, our dogs didn't come home with fleas as they did with area vets in Salem!
