Clearwater put a new roof on our home without venting and promised a forty year warranty on the roof. No venting and no warranty and no correspondence. Paid 21,000- totally scammed.
Well, I was disappointed with the salesperson and his promises represented to me. I was told for a discount I would be asked to participate in some advertising by allowing them to have a back yard bbq party for the neighborhood to promote them. He spent 4 hours working with us to get the price down to a reasonable price. After all was said and time to sign on the line the price was more than we talked about. About 4500 dollars more, the sliding glass door was over $3000. I was told that they are all about customer satisfaction and the best in the business. After the installation the subbed out contractor chipped out counters in the kitchen. After six weeks of back and forth talking to different people and pictures sent, nothing was ever done. I tried calling once a week for about two months with no one returning my calls or even answering my messages. After a year, I got a return call from the company hitman making me feel like a big crybaby for what happened, his response to me was, "What do you want, if you're like everyone else in Oregon its probably a million dollars". I decided to see if they would do anything so I said, how about a gift card, or a decent apology....I got a gift card and a how you doing hang up. This company is not any different than any other company out there just wanted to make lots of money off people and short selling them. Stay away if you like your money in the bank.
I did not do business with this company but I felt compelled to let everyone know that they should do the same. I was approached by one of their employees to conduct a free estimate for my roof. Given that my inspection informed me that he roof was nearing the end of its life, I figured there was no harm in getting a ball park range. The man who came into the house began with a whole presentation about the company (building on how high quality their materials were and how they know what they're doing). To be honest I really didn't care for this bloated information, but he went on for about an hour showing me infinite letters from "satisfied customers" and BBB reviews. After his spiel he finally goes onto look at the roof...this is around 8pm by now and he is wandering about with a dinky flashlight barely spending time on the actual roof. After another 15 minutes he comes back ready to give me a price (please check out my posted picture). He tells me that there are two layers of roofing that needs to be removed in order to install a new one (later debunked). With absolutely everything included (replacement plywood, synthetic underlayment, unmatched 50 year warranty, etc), he starts off with a price tag of $26,125+tax, I would have to put half of that amount down, and pay $1410/month for 72 months (no idea at what interest rates). After about an hour of him giving us "discounts" the price comes down to $21,464 including tax, no money down, then pay off the balance at a min of $226.37/month. They ask you to advertise via a sign on your lawn, provide a satisfaction letter, and not disclose the ridiculous price you paid for your roof to anyone (even though that is the first thing people ask). I am not the type of person to make huge purchases without doing my own research on it first, but he was adamant that I wasn't going to find anything close to what they offered, so I should sign RIGHT NOW before they "release their launch". First of all, I'm assuming the letter they ask you for is the reason why they have such great ratings on BBB. After having a second contractor check out my roof, he confirmed that my roof in fact only has one layer that has to be removed and I could probably hold out for another couple of years till it really has to be replaced. The best part? I got a quote for $8k (similar 50 year warranty included). Not only are their staff not knowledgeable, but they will totally rip you off. I really hope you don't fall for their sneaky tactics.
