“Ivan and his team have done several jobs for us. As a PM, Ivan is the go-to choice. Always on time, with the job done correctly the first time.“
“I love my new kitchen! Let’s Remodel came in and replaced everything except a couple of appliances which we reused, and our new kitchen works wonderfully. We did not change much from the previous layout except for getting a complete range instead of a cooktop and separate oven, but that change gave us more useful storage in the pantry cabinets. They didn’t have to move any walls, but otherwise gutted the whole thing, including removing soffits.
Pros:
• Pavel and Polina and their entire staff are lovely people and nice to work with.
• Both Pavel and Polina respond well to texts and were pretty easy to get ahold of.
• Polina is a great designer. She listened to our wants and needs and on the first try presented us with beautiful options for our cabinets, floor, and backsplash.
• We were able to live in the house while the remodel took place.
• The workers shuffled our furniture around as necessary for us. This was a great help.
• The finishes all came out beautifully.
• Removing our old square ceiling lights and replacing them with cans has been wonderful, and they did a great job of texturing the ceilings to match the existing brocade ceiling.
• They were able to install the fancy copper hood we bought.
• They managed to install the luxury vinyl plank floor throughout the house with no transitions. Beautiful!
• We had to replace some door and window frames which are stained throughout the house. They matched the stain perfectly.
• They knew the perfect thing for our corner cabinet. The whole thing pulls out for easy access.
Challenges:
• Pavel has a great crew, but he himself was not on site as often as we would have liked. This resulted in our catching a few errors that we then had to call about. Fortunately, we caught them before much work was lost. And there were only a few. The errors were cheerfully corrected.
• They got off schedule at one point and the schedule was not revised online to reflect the new reality.
• The job took a couple months longer than originally planned (partly our fault – see POD below, and partly theirs – finishing touches and our difficult hood).
Suggestions for you:
• Rent a POD. Our job included the new kitchen, new floors throughout the house, and painting all the walls. If it had just been the kitchen, we might have been able just to use the garage to store stuff. Maybe. But having to pack all the books and décor items, really maxed out the garage. And we forgot to account for the storage of construction materials in the garage as well. This really made it hard on the workers shuffling our furniture around. If we had rented a POD, we’d have been able to get some of the furniture out of the house and there would have been less shuffling. Pavel told us that the furniture shuffling really slowed them down, which makes total sense.
• Pay attention when Polina shows you all the fancy inserts for cabinets and drawers. You’ll want some.“
“We worked with Patrick Donaldson and Sarah Hurt at Harka on an extensive kitchen remodel that involved moving a structural wall. They provided valuable feedback on various design options, got us in touch with an excellent builder (Hayes Brothers), and served as an interface with the structural engineers during the construction phase. We are extremely pleased with the result.“
“Bright has been a pleasure to work with over the years. They are fantastic designers, provide great feedback and communication to clients, and the finished product is always above and beyond our expectations!“
“Cindy and her crew are very professional. They have created beautiful window treatments for our entire house. This summer we decided to add shades to our east facing porch and a bedroom after trees fell during the winter storm. Cindy's recommendations, measurements and installations were perfect. “Review for Sheila Botke, Avalon Interior Designs March 2014 By Stephanie T., retired teacher I bought my 1955 "mid-century modern" house in SE last July, and immediately began a lot of much-needed updating and remodeling. A few weeks later, when I was about to decide on my paint colors, an acquaintance suggested I might want to meet with a really good interior designer he knew named Sheila Botke - just for a short consultation. I kept putting off calling her. I guess I was feeling a little bit nervous and intimidated since I'd never worked with a designer before. I just couldn't imagine myself flipping through books of brocade fabric swatches with a designer -- choking at prices I would never be able to afford. Well, happily, it turned out that my fears were unfounded. I ended up feeling totally at ease with Sheila and actually having a really good time with her. She's not only exceptionally good at what she does, but she's also just a super sweet person who's a lot of fun to be around. She has a wide variety of resources to draw from. She can show you beautiful samples of anything you're needing, from blinds and curtains, to rugs and paint colors. I loved the interesting "outside the box" ideas and samples she came up with. Very creative and cool! She knows all the great retail and wholesale sources as well, and will shop with you for tile, lighting, couches... whatever you need. Having a designer that's well-connected in the trade community is a big plus. I used her hardwood floor guy and her painter and can't say enough about the quality of their work. Nothing fell through the cracks, thanks to Sheila's diligence. She had my back the entire time my remodel was going on -- catching others' mistakes and putting out small fires before they turned into real issues. She made time for me no matter how hectic her schedule was, always making sure I had what I need when I needed it! Wow. Pretty impressive. Knowledgeable about code as well as colors, she has a discerning eye for detail. I just can't imagine finding a better designer than Sheila. She's a natural at what she does. She's got the gift of being able to look at a space, indoors or out, and know just how to transform it into something that REALLY works. I call it Sheila Magic. ;-) Totally professional, extremely knowledgeable, and a real joy to work with...that's Sheila. Don't hesitate to call her and see for yourself.“
“Wonderful products, always beautifully staged! And Tiffany and her staff are friendly and helpful, too!“
“Our company engaged Kami Gray Interiors to design the interior of the units at our multi-family project, The Robert in N. Portland. Additionally, we asked that she create a space in the lobby that had the aesthetic of a hip hotel lobby. Kami and her team nailed it. The unit interiors are modern and timeless and beyond their appearance; the selections were thoughtfully chosen for their durability as well. Kami's design in the lobby exceeded our high expectations. We wanted to create a community space that feels cozy and inviting and felt more like a hotel than an apartment building. Kami used a combination of materials to pull the space together; including the addition of a fireplace, a brick accent wall, and a unique tile fireplace surround to bring the space together. Additionally, her choices for furnishings, lighting, and artwork finished the space to give it a comfortable lounge feel. Both the units and the lobby have been extremely well received by the residents. We will certainly be using Kami on future projects.Services: Interior decorating“

“One of our Hunter Douglas shaded broke, and H.D. recommended these guys to repair it. From the very first phone call, the experience was awesome. Long story short: I took the shade to their Portland location (NE Broadway), the problem was quickly diagnosed and the fix explained, and I got a call two days later saying my repaired shade was ready for pickup. Now it works like new. Friendly, professional employees; full transparency about how things will go; quality work; quick turnaround... We couldn't be happier.“
