Wow! Would give more than five stars if I could. This was my first time going to a dermatologist and I wasn't sure what to expect, especially during Covid. Upon arriving, they were taking safety precautions very seriously and it was super clean. I watched someone come disinfect after every interaction. On top of that the nurse who walked me to the room was so kind and personable. She was very welcoming and overall very helpful. I saw Dr. Pena and he was an absolute delight. Very kind and knowledgeable and in the same breath very reassuring. He took a couple of biopsies off me and the procedure was completely painless and super quick. The after care summary was jam packed with information pertaining my procedure and also general skin care. Cannot say enough positive things about this doctor, care team, and clinic.
This is the review they don't want you to see, over 2 appointments which has copays ; and a message directly through to the dr Pena ,and his assistant, Which resulted in a missed appointment because they never called the phone number that I gave them in my message after I had become an established patient there, (they - the assistant-actually made me an appointment for me and never even told - Called - me - that I had an appointment for an early time on a Friday morning); Only 2 1/2 of my five or six issues were resolved/one of them being melanoma on an arm, the other one being a wart on an appendage/and regarding the ones that they forgot to address , Were because the assistant forgot to refer ;Notation : Of everything that I said and I requested on to the chart so the doctor could refer directly to them immediately) ; Information I had other on my skin treatment of ESSENTIAL oil therapy WAS not thought to be relevant,, -I was listening to for about a minute, but they didn't seem to be able to also want to 'suggest after I asked nicely ' ((I think this is because their chart notes are not connected with the providence health system, PCPs office) my request was to be that i would be ... referred to a specialist FOR one more big skin tag on the side of a very sensitive area , & And I let them know that my doctor and I had talked about it ,, I feel like I am now moving backwards instead of moving forward; When I tried to call couple times last 2 or 3 months , if I could speak with the office manager about setting it up to get re-looked at they just said well , that manager is not here in the office at this time you'll have to try and drop in or reach us back later and they didn't even want to take a message I am giving them 3 stars they may have a good confirmation of certain areas for certain people but not for me,,.
Dr Pena was wonderful and patient, though I was very late from traffic. Note! This place was hard to find! Nothing on outside building about Providence Dermatology, doesnt look like a medical building AND my GPS took me to the wrong building - the Triple AAA building on Sunnyside - oy. Realllllly appreciated they still got me in!!! Central number listed in Yelp took me to the Portland office, but they were very nice in reception to call the Clackamas office and let them know i was still lost! Well done - all the way around!
