“Nice place for kids to learn their attitudes and behaviors. Teachers are working very hard and sometimes funny my kids love to go there!“
“Good instruction. Great people. Omar knows his Jiu Jitsu and it shows in his upper belts.“
“Eight years of experience with Krav and finally looking to come to a gym closer to me; really enjoyed my intro class! Looking forward to learning more here, highly recommend.“
“I was looking for something new to motivate me to move more and have fun doing it. I found it at GIRLS Gym. No matter your age or ability level you feel right at home. There is such a positive vibe there and I have so much fun!“
“My son has been with Sunrise for a couple years now and we couldn't be happier. The instructors and masters are dedicated, kind, and wonderful with kids.“
“Very family oriented, some of the nicest people I've met. I highly recommend this place. I have gone to many different martial arts and this one is be far the best one.“
“My son went to him when he was five years old and he is now 23. Master Kim was amazing with our son and he even did a black belt by the time he was 16 years old. We had split custody and master. Kim was very flexible of doing every other week. My son I know because of master Kim is grown to be a very strong adult, and very well balanced.I now have grandkids and I’ve looked him up to send my grandkids to him now. He is somebody I have trusted his team with with my children and now I’m gonna trust him with my grandchildren. They are amazing. I looked through the photos and they’re the same teachers that it was 20 years ago, I’m so happy to find him again and the teachers .“
“Highly recommend this dojo!If you are wondering about giving Aikido a try... just do it!“
“Like others have said, this place is home. Gil is amazing at what he does and he's not only started a school, but a family.“
“In an area where there is a rich and widespread martial arts culture such as Portland, many clubs will have different vibes and ways that they are run. When finding a fit can be difficult, I believe Enso is unique in how it has something for everyone and what it offers for training.

I was fortunate to find Enso when I did: They were extremely welcoming, the atmosphere is fantastic and positive with instruction that often feels more personal and thoughtfully considered rather than rote and routine. There is room for people at all skill levels, especially notable is the number of high level practitioners who continue to train alongside the beginners, personally coach and support those still finding their way.

The culture here is second to none, it quickly became more than just a place to train, but a place I am extremely thankful to be able to call home.“
“My kidshave been here for a few months now and they love it. The master is awesome with the kids and parents and with the class all together“
“Still going strong and accepting new students!I was lucky enough to find Ferrito Martial Arts about 3 years ago, it's been a blast. Instructor Ferrito is a wonderful teacher, during busy classes managing to be able to give one on one instruction on a wide range of techniques. I have found Instructor Ferrito to be a very patient teacher whether he is working with a beginner adult or a blue belt pre-teen, he fits his teaching to the student. This class has been great at giving me a good work out while providing vital self defense techniques. Farang Hapkido uses an effective mix of joint locks, strikes, grappling, and weapons to develop a self defense style that can work for any body type and is flexible enough to be adapted to any situation.I feel fortunate to have found a martial arts family with this school.“
“Criticizing an instructor without knowing their background is absurd and when said instructor has moved on from competing to train a martial art that has such an extensive and rich history, criticizing that art is equally absurd. Small Circle jujitsu was developed by Prof. Wally Jay and is based on classical jujitsu, and incorporates judo, boxing, wrestling, Escrima and Wing Chun kung fu. So because of this, Small Circle techniques are not only applicable to jujitsu, but blends beautifully with other styles of martial arts. It's true they don't concentrate on ground techniques as does BJJ, and they're not a kickboxing or boxing school nor are they training competitive wrestling. They train a combination of non-lethal pain compliance control holds and methods of restraining and controlling opponents with throws, takedowns. There is a reason that police departments worldwide use similar techniques that are taught at Portland Jujitsu, it works Small Circle Jujitsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu incorporate many similar techniques, but with. different emphasis that make both Jiu-Jitsu's so effective.Sensei Miller is also an asset to the community with his self defense/self confidence classes he teaches for the blind and kids classes. In addition to these classes he is contemplating adding upcoming classes for fall prevention and balance for seniors“
“I’ve been going there to workout for 2 years. I’m currently a purple belt. The instructors are all really friendly helping out with Taekwondo for all ages, they have classes for little kids to middle aged people and beyond. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“This is a great martial arts class. The instructor is extremely patient while, at the same time, maintains discipline in the classroom. The prices for the classes and uniforms are great, belts are free, and students can make up a missed class by coming into one of his other classes. There also a free practice session in local parks on Thursdays & (I think) Saturdays hosted by some of the black belt students.“
“My kids have done a few sports. But they have never been as excited and passionate about something like they are for Taekwando. My son who is super shy and introverted, cannot wait for taekwondo! We have seen his confidence grow and has become a great leader. They really care for your kids and make learning fun“
“My son loves Woodstock Taekwondo! Great instructors, welcoming community and an overall positive experience. His instructors are encouraging, enthusiastic, and genuinely committed to the participants. We highly recommend Woodstock Taekwondo!“
“Sensei Fife is wonderful with my kiddos, they look forward to class weekly. The way he relays his messages is so impressive.“
“Master Carlos and the rest of the team are great. Our son loves going to Taekwondo twice a week. We also did a couple of private lessons on Sunday, which were absolutely incredible. The teacher went over everything with our son, from warm-up, counting in Korean, to kicking, punching and board breaking. Friendly and great group of people!“
“Traveling to Portland, GU PDX warmly welcomed me to join a combatives class while in town. Ben led the session with a great mix of technical and instructional skill. Thank you!“
“I travel often and make it a habit to visit local MMA gyms. Quest Team was one of the most welcoming gyms I've been to and Coach Matt and his family - provided me great care and attention despite the fact I'm new and just visiting and I also got to witness just why he is a world class coach.“
“Excellent gym! I've been taking muay thai here for almost half a year and can clearly see how skilled and articulate the instructors are. FYI some of them even compete! They are welcoming to people of all backgrounds and experience levels, they take time drilling in fundamentals (important!) and they put SAFETY before everything. Pricing is very reasonable and class time is spent very well!“
“This is Coach Justin, one of the excellent BJJ teachers at SBG Portland. Justin signed me up to the gym, guided me through my entry process, and always has a kind work or thoughtful insight to share with me. Today’s class with Coach Justin was all about escaping your opponent when they’re going for your head on the ground, and boy was it fantastic. And humbling. Coach Justin said today something today like, “if you want to succeed at BJJ you have to let your ego go”, and of course he’s absolutely right. When I got into powerlifting seriously about ten years ago, I took to it like flies take to sh*t—I was naturally strong, and good coaches were able to take me to really incredible strength numbers. But I’m not naturally good at BJJ, and for me to get better, I have to admit that. I have to think through what I’m doing, how I’m doing it, and why in the moment I’m doing it. I absolutely love BJJ, and am grateful that I have this gym within walking distance to train at. The three coaches I’ve worked with—Vanessa, Justin, and Franklin have challenged me like no other, and I’m grateful. And I won’t back down. I’m slowly getting better, but there is a rich depth to this sport that I don’t know if I’ll fully ever explore, but that doesn’t mean I dang well won’t give it my best. I highly recommend this place, both for complete newbies and experienced athletes as well. You will be challenged, and you won’t walk away disappointed.“
“I would have never imagined that taekwondo would become such a huge part of our lives when we signed up. The staff at Irelands ATA Martial Arts are not only incredibly skilled martial artists themselves, but excellent leaders that each have something different to bring to the table. My son has grown so much, as a person, in the last couple of years, and I’m confident his taekwondo family has had a lot to do with it!“
“Our kids love coming here and they are learning so much! I love the way the teaching is approached: gentle, kind and firm instructional. All of the teachers do a great job of balancing instruction with fun. I also love that the kids don’t need to remember every little thing on test day or be perfect. They earn their belt in class and then the test is their time to shine. I would recommend it for every child. I wish we could magically have better parking, but that can’t be helped :)“
