“York AMA is an amazing school and it fit perfectly with my family's schedule. York AMA has been the perfect academy for my son with friendly and knowledgable instructors. He has learned so much more than just martial arts including life skills like focus, respect and patience. I highly recommend York AMA.“
“Absolutely one of the best gyms I have ever trained at! It’s so welcoming, the people are all very friendly, the gym is so well rounded, spacious & has everything you need! Starting with the sauna inside the change rooms, the weight training area for after your classes, a huge clean matt for our BJJ, Wrestling, MMA, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing rings & bags. Im sure there is even more I haven’t had the chance to explore yet. As soon as I walked in I was immediately greeted, felt extremely taken care of and was given a full walk around the gym with the manager. After the first day training I knew I would be a regular here. I’m so happy I found such a solid gym in Toronto 10 mins away from my place. I’ve trained in a few different Dojos across the cities and this is definitely my top favourite. Come check it out for yourself! Thanks for the hospitality team Xtreme!“
“Been training here for a year and I really enjoy it. Joel and Arthur are great instructors who take the time to explain technique and always come around to assist. Classes are big enough to have a variety of training partners but not too big where you feel like you are just another face on the mats. On any given night, there is a group of training partners who are respectful and want you to get better; You don't have to worry about getting injured or unsafe sparring. It is a great gym and worth the commute no matter where you are travelling from.“
“Overall, I am satisfied, and I definitely recommend it. If you have kids, please sign them up for the kids' classes. Joel, Zuka, and Daniel are amazing, and you will have world-class treatment.Coming from Brazil and having trained for ~ one year there (I'm still a white belt, though), you might be a bit skeptical about joining the combative program. However, I gave it a chance, and I enjoyed the classes. In the combative program, you learn the foundation of BJJ and basic moves, which will certainly speed up your learning in the long term. The big difference for me was that in the Brazilian gyms (especially the one I came from), you would always join the sparring sessions with all belts, and you learn a lot there, especially when you grapple with purple+ belts. However, the combative program won't give you that taste (here is where you may get disappointed if you're coming from a different BJJ gym like me), and there is a more or less long road to the master class before you can join them and get back to where you're used to.I see the pros of the combative program, especially for those who have never been exposed to BJJ, but if you have certain exposure to BJJ, you will need to open your mind and try it. The pace of the combative class is totally different from what you could be used to. - To be clear, you need to go through the combative only if you're a white belt, regardless of the # of stripes or years trained (I am unclear, though... I don't want to say something that's not true)I am going into my third month with them, and I enjoy the majority of the classes.“
“Great martial arts community for adults that allows all levels to meet and improve. Head coach Bobby Currie is a Judo, JiuJitsu champion and a kickboxing, Muay Thai expert. His knowledge and experience really make a difference and one's level increases weekly. kids program is exceptional, with my boys going to competitions and doing extremely well. I strongly recommend this gym.“
