In the middle of a trip from Toronto back home to the Chicago area we heard a noise coming from the front of my brother's suburban we were traveling in. Stopped at a dealer who was scheduled out 4 weeks before being recommended to XTR Auto Tech. Even though they were scheduled 2 weeks out they took the time to look at our vehicle and were able to fix and have us back on our way within 2 hours. We were driving to USA for the long weekend and our car was making an unusual noise. We couldn't figure it out. It was late in the day, we just walked in here and the shop was closed but found Mathew working here. We asked him if there would be any body shop open just to do a quick check before we cross the border. He said nothing would be open and asked us what's going on. We explained our situation, he took a look at the car and saw our cover at the bottom hanging underneath the car. He offered to help and got his tools. I was having power steering issues on my 2011 Land Rover LR2. I live in Lake Orion MI however I am a Sarnia native. My “former mechanic” in Rochester MI told me my steering rack was shot and it needed replacing. He said it was corroded and leaking hydraulic power steering fluid. His estimate to repair the problem was $3200. That’s when I searched for a mechanic in Sarnia. With the US/Canadian exchange rate.. I could save some money as well. I scheduled an appointment with Jim to assess the issue. The pressure hose from the power steering pump to the rack and pinion assembly was not properly secured. Loose as a goose.
