When commissioning a 30” X 40” painting of a Georgian Bay scene (Waubuno Beach), my wife and I wanted to capture the spirit of The Group of Seven (Varley in particular), but also have the artist bring a unique style. We sought a truly one-of-a-kind original with the highest quality. After a couple of e-mail conversations with Jessica Vergeer, we were confident she understood what we were looking for. Once we saw the sketch for the painting, we knew we made the right choice. Our high expectations were further surpassed when we saw the finished painting. With a combination of skill and intuitiveness, Jessica was able to capture the scene with very detailed realism, but with splashes of colour in the rocks, trees, water and sky that is unique to this artist. After a week in our home, we’re still discovering interesting layers of colour in the painting that only an experienced and talented artist - that knows Georgian Bay intimately - would bring out. It’s the difference between a good painting and a great one.
