“I absolutely recommend Basic Funerals to anyone. My family and I, had an absolutely horrible experience with Kelly Funeral Homes here in the Ottawa area. Kelly Funeral Homes was so cold, unprofessional, apathetic and lacked all sense of compassion. The rep at Kelly Funeral Homes even tried to rush our family to call them back and make a decision to use their services, as the rep said she would be going home at 3pm (thought they were available 24 hours a day). Since it was December 24th we made a pressured, emotional and very regrettable decision. The rest of our experience with Kelly Funeral homes was a nightmare and I would rather not go into detail about that, though I will say the rep at Kelly Funeral Homes told me to call the hospital to find out when my Mother's body would be ready for transfer. When I called the hospital they were immediately confused and told me it is the responsibility of the funeral home to call NOT the family member. One of many examples of their lack of knowledge.We decided to avoid Kelly Funeral Homes ever again, so when we needed help with the ashes, we reached out to several funeral homes, and they refused to touch anything associated with Kelly Funeral homes (it was unbelievable, based from past experiences) and if they would do the service they would also charged at least $100 per urn to do so.We then tried Basic Funeral Homes (we were not originally aware of their location) and that is where we met Wendy. Wendy was like an angel. She was so caring, compassionate, understanding and sympathetic. Wendy was so thoughtful and sensitive in her approach, especially considering what we had been going through and the basic fact that at the end of the day we simply trying to get help with my Mother's ashes.NOT only did Wendy not charge us for anything, but she went above and beyond and prepared everything for us. It was amazing. She made us feel so much better, relieved and at peace. Thank you Wendy.“
