A year ago February (2023), after being admitted to OTMH with RSV and ARDS, I entered a 15 day coma. When I miraculously started breathing on my own after intubation was removed, I slowly emerged in the ICU with a tracheotomy, a direct abdominal feeding tube, a bed sore, and had lost 50 pounds. The atrophy was extensive and both of my legs were nothing but skin and bone with no remaining calf muscle. After a couple of months of a slow recovery, the neurologist told me that the peroneal nerve on my right leg was permanently paralyzed. I immediately started researching drop foot braces, and bought 2. Another few days of comatose and I would have lost my left leg also. After 5 months, I was finally discharged.
It is almost one year ago now that I went to What's Good Wellness for an evaluation to determine whether I could possibly gain back the feeling in my feet. My right ankle was braced, and I went in with a rollator (walker). After a commitment of 3 visits each week for several months, I regained the complete use of my right ankle that had been totally paralyzed. I started driving again. Near the end of 2023, my visits were gradually reduced, and I am now on maintenance. The only lingering effects I experience is tingling and numbness in my feet, but my strength and balance are all but fully recovered. I was on the verge of ordering a stair master, but following the prescribed regiment, I donated my walkers back to the rehab floor at OTMH, and no longer need any assistance to walk.
Katrina told me right off that she estimated her treatments could get me back to about 65%. I know I'm beyond that. The entire team there became a second family, and this specific method of electrified acupuncture is the differentiating factor. I've gone from months of taking the elevator there to running up the 2.5 floors to this very unique clinic. And yes, every one of the team have been marvelous, and yes also to Charleston most definitely being invited to cater to my next corporate sales meeting.
Thanks to Katrina, the consummate expert acupuncturist, and all the girls at the desk and of course Rayna who wired me up and un-wired me countless times.
My only advice to potential clients would be to stay to the program, don't give up, and you will be as amazed at the outcome as I have been. It will take time, but make the commitment. You, in reality can't put a price on such a recovery as the recovery I have had. Thanks everyone!
