Just came back from Barrkhaven after picking up my 6 month old Golden Doodle (Max). They said he was well behaved which made me happy as it was his first time to the salon. The results of their efforts was fantastic. He looks great and will be a regular customer in the future. They obviously are very talented and committed to excellence. Frustrated and heartbroken to write this. Our dog has been going to Barrkhaven - previously Bark and Fitz - for over 14 years. his groomer was always Leanne and he loved her, and eventually any groomer that took him. They always said how amazing he is. This place used to be about dogs, their owners and their customers and less about $$$. He had an appointment today and my husband left an hour and a half earlier than necessary for the appointment. Due to an accident and a highway closure, my husband went less than 5km in an hour. Once detoured, he was going to arrive 45 minutes later for the appointment. Again, we have been going here since our dog was a puppy (14 years), never cancelled or missed an appointment or been late. We didn't complaint when his nails were clipped too short and bled and we always tipped well. Some groomers take an hour to groom him and some take 2 hours and I was understanding of the late fee and hopeful they could still take him, I even suggested removing the extras like nail clipping etc to take less time. Unfortunately they couldn't take him that late - I do get that but now they are going to charge us for the missed appointment - we have never missed an appointment in 14 + years, never. This is what we get for being loyal to this place. I am sad to say we won't be back and have to figure out where to now take our elderly dog to be groomed who is used to going here. So much for customer appreciation and understanding - its not like qw cancelled for no reason or do it all the time.
