We have a five year old tabby named Scrabble. He started to present with odd behaviors; decrease in appetite, hiding in odd corners of the house and not responding when called. We called the Brant Animal Clinic in Burlington on September 20th and received an appointment the very next day to see Dr. Anne and Julianna. Immediately, we felt that Scrabble was in the best care; the staff were very friendly and Dr. Anne was gentle upon her examination. With no obvious signs upon examination, we decided that diagnostic testing was necessary in finding out why Scrabble was acting differently. They collected his blood and gave us a urine kit to obtain a sample at home. Scrabble stumped us all when his blood and urine came back normal. We discussed possible diagnosis over email with Julianna, who was prompt in responding. Even though Dr. Anne went on vacation the day after our visit, our treatment plan for Scrabble was not delayed. They worked with a sister clinic in Waterdown to get us a refill for Scrabble's analgesics and to discuss next steps in a diagnosis. Dr. Anne, and the sister clinic were receptive to our observations of Scrabble over the next few days. With Scrabble's pain controlled, he started to eat the wet food Dr. Anne prescribed and was moving around in the room; we had separated Scrabble from our other two kitties to better monitor intake and output and noticed that Scrabble could not support himself while walking. We asked that Dr. Anne do a few X-rays and examine his tail to see if there were any injuries we were unaware of. The next steps were to get Scrabble in for a dental cleaning and examination under sedation. Julianna emailed us to notify of a cancellation and booked Scrabble in for October 3rd. We were ecstatic! The appointment was a huge success! Scrabble has less teeth and some arthritis that will change his mobility, but we could not have asked for a better outcome. I decided to spend the night in his room and he spent the whole night cuddling me and purring. We owe our thanks to the team at Brant Animal clinic; their holistic approach to medicine and the way they listen to your feedback gives you the feeling as if you are their only client. We know that Scrabble has a couple weeks of recovery left, but already I can tell, he is our happy boy again!
