I usually cut my own hair... I just shave my head. However, I had my buddy trim up the back of my head to make sure it was straight. Well apparently I am friends with Michael J Fox... He slipped and took a chunk out. I came to choppers with the girlfriend and they somehow saved me. Thanks, Zak. Check em out. Interesting place even for a guy.
I am have been going to Choppers for almost 10 years now. Yes that is actually longer than it has been there. I started way back in the days that it was called The End Salon and was off of Council and Expressway. Enough of the history lesson. James has been cutting my hair for right around 10 years no and I will not go anywhere else in OKC. For that matter I will try not to go any where else period. I travel a lot and sometimes I am on the road for month. A lot of those times I will weather the storm and wait till I get back home. As the song would go I hate to get my haircut away from home. James is top notch at what he does. I have never got a hair cut I didn't like and most of the time I just go in and say do what you want. As I trust him to give me a hair cut the is both great and fits my personality. James is the owner and chief stylist at Choppers. There are several other stylist in the Choppers stable. Choppers does except walk ins but don't expect to get James's services on a walk in. As he is normally booked up. I would strongly recommend you call a week in advance to acquire his services. Even if you do need a cut tomorrow though, call he might be able to get you in. If not James only hires the best to work in his salon. If the are not good they wouldn't be hacking hair off there. So if you need your top chopped off give James and the Choppers crew a call.
This salon is literally right down the street from me. I've seen really trendy tatted people with great hair coming and going. I thought to myself. Heck I'm really trendy and tatted and I want great hair, I should go there. I may think I'm more trendy than I am. But tatted, I am tatted! None the less, I decided to call and schedule an appointment and have my naturally red locks touched up. Every 6 weeks or so, I have to do this cause for some reason my hair hasn't gotten the message that it's supposed to be naturally red. Anyway! I called 2 days ago to ask get an estimate on my color and was quickly and not quite so friendly put on hold. I heard the girl say "Will you're up." I don't know if they take turns and it was Will's turn or she couldn't be bothered with a client that wanted an idea of the price prior to making an appointment. Regardless, Will answered and was quite pleasant. I of course had to go into what I'd like done again for him, but he was so nice about it. Asked how long my hair is and a couple other specific questions to get a better idea of what I wanted done and gave me a very reasonable price. For an all over color with high-lights which includes a trim and blow-dry and style $85. I have been quoted double that before. So I was enthusiastic to make an appointment with him. I arrived at my scheduled appointment time. Will greeted me quickly and was very nice. He re-consulted with me on my hair and made sure we were on the same page. We certainly were. I let him know that my hair tangles like a 4-year olds and instead of blowing this off like so many, he was super gentle and consciousness of my tangles. This color process takes time. It takes a good couple hours. He had such intelligent things to speak about and was not too familiar and didn't ask overly personal questions while I was captive in his chair. When he was done with my hair I was super happy. I got so many compliments on it while I was out running my errands. I did only give this salon 4 stars for a couple reasons. A) the not so nice lady that answered the phone and B) I'm not sure how I feel about the space itself. While they have some different art and stuff, they also sell what I assume to be collectable action figures. These things won't keep me from returning. I think that when you review a salon/spa the biggest review is of course the actual service you received and the person that did the service for you. So these things won't keep me from going back. They do accept credit cards and are considering joining Keep It Local.
