Overall, my experience with the fence repair service was okay, but I cannot say I am a satisfied customer. The contractor quoted me a price of over $2500 to install stronger posts for my fence and fix both gates. However, he still needed to finish everything he had promised upon completion. Despite paying for 30 posts, only around 25 were installed. My gates are now broken, and parts of the fence have fallen. Even after contacting him over three times, he has yet to show up to fix the issues. I urge caution in trusting this company with a large sum of money.
I'm updating my review for overall experience now. I'm giving 3 stars because the fence is nice and complete. We received the quote and went with it immediately. First I will say it wasn't us being cheap going with this guy - the other guy was way overpriced considering only one hole had to be dug for the entire fence since we said they could use the old posts. This company requested $2525 upfront so he could purchase materials. We didn't even question it. We know most companies want it and smaller companies can't afford to front the money. It's a given. He came by the day after the request and picked up the check. The check cleared two days later. 14 days later he texted and then called my husband to say the price increased by about a dollar a board. Hubby checked it out and saw it was accurate, but we decided to not do the project. Like wth? You asked for and received our check for materials 16 days before, it cashed 2 days later, so you had our money for two weeks, didn't buy the material and then had the audacity to ask for more? My husband asked for the money to be returned. It wasn't anything personal, but I budgeted for what he said. We also had spent another $16,000 on stuff and loaned money out as well. But that's not the point. He quoted us. The guy then said he could see if he could find the material cheaper elsewhere (like if that was the case, why wouldn't you have done that before calling us?) and why the heck didn't you buy our stuff before? He said Home Depot doesn't hold for more than a week. Generally true, but they'll work with you. He also asked if we wanted a different wood. No, we want what we ordered. He then said he would just eat the cost of it from labor. It's not like we were trying to mess him over. We called for a quote, received and accepted it, and paid UP FRONT for materials. He started work shortly thereafter. He is quick and the work is good. He had to leave for a few days for a family emergency, but came back and finished the job a few days later. The contract included haul off of old materials. He told us that he would have to come back for the last couple of panels because they had poison ivy on them. However, he left them laying on the ground to kill what grass we had growing. We literally had a whole conversation about the fact our grass wouldn't grow, but ok. He told us he would be back in a week to get them. He didn't come. We didn't call. We're not pushy people. Then our neighbor informed us that he had left panels in her yard. Then we called. He got back to us and said he would be by on Friday (a week after he said he would be here originally) to pick them up. I texted my neighbor to let her know. At that point, she continued to text me that he had taken down part of her fence and left a gap, it wasn't his to take down, and she wasn't happy. She wanted it fixed. I told her I would let him know when he came. Needless to say, he never came. He does not return texts or calls. So that we didn't have issues with our neighbor, we paid someone else to haul off the panels, and my husband repaired the fence, despite just having surgery and not supposed to pick anything up or bend over due to pressure in his face. I don't know why he decided to say screw it and not finish, per his contract. Maybe he was ticked that he didn't make as much? Still, not our fault. He made an error in judgment. Maybe I'm surmising. Did my husband get rude? Yep, he sure did. I think we were quite pleasant, considering. Maybe he's overwhelmed since he's in the military? I don't know, but it takes seconds to make a phone call or send a text. If it's because he didn't want to touch the panels because the vines that were on it that are now dead, what was the reason for leaving the ones in my neighbors yard? And who does that? I've never had a contractor leave crap in a neighborhoods yard ever. Anyway, it was hard to write this because we love the fence and we genuinel
