I had an extremely disappointing experience working for Sam Auto Trans (also known as Ascot Auto Trans LLC), starting on 08/31/2024. I was referred by a friend and flew out to their home terminal in Ohio. Initially, they seemed professional, even arranging for an Uber to their office. The pay is $0.65 per mile, and they communicated through Telegram. On a 2 day layover they only paid me $150. They also charge an Escrow fee of $250 per paycheck & an additional $35 for occupational insurance. Unfortunately, that’s where the problems started. Non-Compliant with ELD: Sam Auto Trans has no respect for safety regulations. They manipulate drivers’ ELDs, resetting hours whenever they need to keep you moving. This is illegal and unsafe, and it shows how little they care about their drivers’ wellbeing. Pay Issues & Escrow Deductions: I was told I’d get paid every 2nd Friday and then every Friday after. When my first check didn't arrive on time, I refused to move a load until I saw some proof of payment. After much back-and-forth with dispatch, they finally sent me a screenshot, and I delivered the load on time. However, this led to them retaliating against me. Termination Without Cause: After delivering a load on time, they routed me back to Ohio under the pretense of fixing the ELD system. Sensing something was off, I requested to go home first to unload my belongings, but they lied and insisted I go to their terminal. When I arrived, they made me wait for 30 minutes before telling me I was being terminated because I had said I wouldn’t move a load without seeing my pay. Even though I never held the load and delivered it on time, they used this as an excuse to fire me. Stranded in Ohio: As an Arizona-based driver, being stranded in Ohio with all my belongings in the truck was a nightmare. They showed zero compassion, and I was left scrambling to figure out my next steps. Final Pay Rip-Off: When I received my final paystub, it showed I earned $2,400, but they deducted $1,750 for escrow, leaving me with only $600 after weeks of hard work. I have bills to pay and am the main provider for my family. This was a serious blow, and it showed me the kind of people they really are. They have no respect for drivers and will exploit you at every turn. I highly recommend that drivers stay far away from this company. They will abuse, lie to, and abandon you when it’s convenient for them. I hope karma catches up with them soon.
