“I found a kitten dying on the sidewalk in front of my house (it may have been hit by a car, was clearly suffering) and when the publicly funded animal shelter refused to take it or do anything other than give me a list of other shelters in faraway counties, I was at a loss. When I passed this animal hospital, I figured I would just see if there was anything they could do, and the receptionist was very compassionate; she realized that the kitten was suffering terribly and immediately offered to take care of it, free of charge.
