Marian has been my hairdresser for years, I recently got a facial with her and she used electrical stim to reduce lines and tighten skin. I felt lovely and there were noticeable changes around my eyes, lips and forehead. I would recommend the treatment highly.Services: Haircut

The Velvet Turtle is a great place! They have done a wonderful job on my hair. Jessica was my stylist. I highly recommend her because she is young and sassy and we had a hilarious conversation while she was doing my hair. She put in highlights with foil and it looked fabulous afterwards. It looked totally natural, not big zebra stripes (although I am sure that she could do that, too, if you prefer that kind) and there was no color bleeding at the base of the foils because she has great technique and knows what she's doing! Velvet Turtle also gets a nice mix of folks--some profs, some students (it is very close to a college campus) college support staff, some senior citizens from Kendall, cool hipsters, kids, parents--all kinds of clients. Every time I have gone there, there has been good atmosphere with nice conversation. You can tell that all the stylists care about their clients.

I can't believe no one has left a review for this place yet. I just got my hair cut there; Joseph was my excellent stylist. He explained the structural elements of the hair style I wanted both when I showed him the picture of it and as he was cutting my hair. His explanation went beyond the typical "I'm doing this to add texture." He actually used cosmetological terms and explained what they meant. On top of that, he's a warm and personable guy who makes sitting in a chair for 45 minutes a pleasure. As a former Oberlin College student who's about to move away, I'm quite sad that I'm only now discovering this place. I highly recommend it!
