Terry from Thompson's Bike and Key Shop was so nice, very professional and very knowledgeable. He was on time and made quick work of our front door lock situation. I highly recommend.
Just bought an old Victorian home in Ashley and had some interior lever locks that we were given no key for. I removed one or them and headed down to this place. I thought it was closed but, as I started to walk away, Mr. Terry Thompson appeared out of nowhere and signaled me in. Walking into his shop is like stepping into a scene from a movie. Absolutely amazing. Lock parts, bike parts, vintage signs, gadgets, etc. everywhere. Mr. Thompson and I proceeded to talk for two hours about everything imaginable. This guy is a local treasure and a true character. My only regret is that I hadn't come to this shop much earlier for any reason at all. Oh yeah- all the while we're talking, Mr. Thompson crafted me a key by grinding, filing, or whatever else was needed. He also gave me a skeleton key for the other locks in my home. When he was done, he charged me something miniscule and alas I was on my way. I ended up with what I came for and also about 50 topics that he told me research (I've researched about 10 so far...). I can't wait to find a reason to head back.
The owner is a totally upfront guy. I called today to request a service to fix my front door lock. He said the service call would be $65, which I was totally ok with. But then he asked me what the problem was, and then proceeded to tell me how to fix it myself. It was a $2.00 fix and he could have charged me $65 just o squirt a dab of graphite in the lock. Next time I need so much as a key made, I'll take my business there
