If this is Glenn Rafferty's business, let me tell you a story from Florida. My husband and I purchased a home and at the urging of our Realtor she recommended her revered contractor- Julio Raymundo Badillo- to work on our home modifications while we were planning to leave for a trip to Norway. She had only glowing praises for Badillo. Reluctant to hand him a key, she frequently stated: "You need to be more trusting. You are in the Bible Belt now." We regret handing Badillo a key. Why? When we walked into our home three months later it looked like a crack house. Almost all our possessions were taken, or severely damaged and trash and filth was everywhere. Ceiling leaks were present, mirrors smashed, wood flooring destroyed, ruined refrigerator, clothes and shoes, china, pots, pans, tools and even shower curtains were gone. Furniture was broken. Artwork was broken. A crucifix was broken. Candle holders were broken. Dyson vacuum was broken. The place was a disaster. And...squatters were living in our home!!!! Badillo was to hire a licensed electrician and somehow he knew to reach out to Glenn Rafferty of Akron, Ohio to replace aluminum wiring with copper. Rafferty opened an electrical permit in Defuniak Springs, Florida then abandoned the job. I think he never looked at our home and was only paid to open the permit. He lists our home as a condo or "unit." It is a single family home. Then a person named Luis Alejandro Morales Alvarez began demanding payment of $25,000.00 for electrical work once we saw our home. He demanded inspection to finalize the permit yet the permit office had a conspicuous final sticker posted. In fact, on his invoice Alvarez lists Rafferty's license number. How convenient. We visited the permit office to verify who was in our home. The permit lists Rafferty and a Jon Pilz. Pilz responded to one of my calls and was evasive at best. Alvarez said he and he alone worked on our electrical. DBPR indicates that Alvarez is not licensed in Florida. DBPR also insinuated that he may be an illegal resident in our country. So Rafferty somehow got mixed up with these idiots- Badillo and Alvarez- and refused to answer my phone calls (I saw his number on the permit). I filed complaints against Badillo, Alvarez and the Realtor. Badillo was subsequently arrested. DBPR is handling the situation with Rafferty breaking the law with opening the electrical permit and allowing unlicensed individuals to re-wire our home once he completed the permit task and abandoning the property. I hired many contractors to repair my home, one included a licensed electrician to repair things and place wiring where it belonged. Pictures will be posted soon.
