“This was my first at MEY salon. I’ve been complimenting a close friend on her chic textured hair & she referred me to Suguru, owner and head stylist of MEY - her hair haunt of almost a decade.

I usually go to black stones collective but I decided to branch out & try something fresh. I haven’t had noticeable layers since 2019 so I was a little hesitant upon arrival.

I was also going in for a hair repair (bangs cut too far back on the crown & a random chunk that was a mistake from an east midtown salon.. we were talking too much) I needed damage control in a tranquil environment - exactly the experience!

Upon arrival I felt instantly peace in the Japanese salon. None of the common east village ego driven high intensity cut/therapy energy - MEY salon is sunlit & serene. Spacious by design, the duplex hosts a vintage clothing shop on the lower level by the restroom & looks out onto a lush green courtyard.

Suguru asked me in the utmost polite tone - “Did you cut your own bangs?” & I explained “i actually paid someone to do that” & we both laughed.
