I came here because I needed a black belt. There were two cashiers, which seems like the right amount of cashiers for a Tuesday. I was next in line but one cashier had to leave and get something for the people she was helping and the other kept checking out people who weren't in the line. The line seemed pretty well marked, unless there was some VIP line I didn't know about, which could be the case. Anyway, I got to check out after a short wait. I was asked if I wanted to round up for JC Penny cares, which I don't know what this is but it sounds like a clever ploy for the company to pay less taxes. I said No Thank you, but she rounded up my price anyway. I was too uncomfortable to say anything so I paid the extra 81 cents. Anyway they have a good belt collection so 5 stars.
I went to JCPenneys at Eastview Mall to pick up a pair of slippers, same day order. Afterwards, I walked around the store and found Sketcher sneakers in my size, on sale buy one and the second pair was half price...essentially 25% off each. At the register, I told the clerk I was texted a 30% off in store coupon, but I couldn't find it. And my 40% secret sale did not apply to Sketchers. So I bought them at full price. That evening the text showed back up for 30% for signing up for emails. So the following day, after calling Customer Service 800 number, I went to Marketplace JCPenneys but they said coupons never apply to name brand athletics. Here's my beef....they could and should have given me the 25% sale price. The 30% discount texted to me did not have any exclussions...at least give the 25% off I would have gotten if I had bought two pair. Having worked many different JCPenney stores, winning multiple awards for sales....it use to be more "customer service friendly". They did not want unhappy customers leaving. I believe I have a legitament issue. They should have cared. But they didn't. Times past, it mattered if customers returned or went elsewhere next time. I WILL GO ELSEWHERE NEXT TIME.
Made an appt before hand for a set time and ending up waiting over 40 minutes (before walking out) because the stylist decided to take two walk ins as I was waiting. Don't bother making an appt ??♀️
