Animal Emergency Service is a veterinary emergency and critical care center located in Selden, Long Island. Established in 1977, it is the first and longest-running animal emergency hospital in New York state. The hospital is fully equipped with the latest digital radiology, ultrasound, and laboratory technology, and offers a State of the Art ICU with extensive patient monitoring equipment. It is staffed by dedicated veterinarians and vet technicians who work around the clock. The hospital has received high praise from satisfied customers. One customer was impressed by the kindness and compassion shown when their oldest pet passed away. Another customer's dog, Otis, was in a critical condition, but the hospital acted quickly, performing surgery and providing regular updates, ultimately saving Otis's life. A third customer had a great experience with their cat, noting the quick and compassionate service, as well as the staff's expertise and dedication to animal care. Overall, Animal Emergency Service is a highly recommended and trusted veterinary emergency center.
They were so wonderful when my oldest passed last February- full of kindness and compassion. I brought my puppy in yesterday and they could not have been better. As far as any 24/7 animal hospitals go, I recommend Selden Animal Hospital to anyone.
Animal Emergency Services saved my Goodendoodle Otis’s life.
He was bloating & they took him right in to evaluate what was happening. The Dr. performed surgery on him & they called us as soon as possible to let us know the outcome. Thankfully, he made it through & is now home recovering.
The staff went way above & beyond texting us on how he was doing after surgery. The next day they even texted a picture of Otis resting comfortably taking a nap.

Sweet, compassionate, caring, quick customer service with top notch expertise. Best experience I’ve ever had at an emergency vet. They took my cat to be looked at immediately when I got there and had a tech give me an update very quickly. John went above and beyond to make sure I had all of the information I needed about my cat’s condition and gave me three recommendations for a primary vet with explanations for all of them. You could tell John and the other staff care deeply for animals and treat them as their own. Thank you!
